Maintenance Electrician at Carlisle

Job Description:

Job Summary:


The Electrician plans, lays out, and performs all operations pertaining to the installation, maintenance, and repair of a wide variety of complicated electrical equipment and circuitry. This position installs, maintains, and repairs electric motors, digital drives, high voltage circuits, and electrical control panels. Work in this position involves utilizing a thorough knowledge of the electrical trade and the understanding of plant operating principles required to ensure that equipment functions properly and safely.


Duties & Responsibilities:


* Repairing, maintaining, and replacing electric motors and their accessory equipment
* Installing and repairing all types of electronic equipment including PLC programmers, sensors, control panels, and temperature controllers
* Maintaining and installing electric services in the Carlisle Campus buildings including lighting and HVAC
* Installing new equipment-mount fixtures, running conduit, pulling wire, and connecting wiring
* Troubleshooting electrical breakdowns
* Performing machine changeovers for all plant processes and products
* Performing preventative maintenance tasks on plant equipment
* Completing required paperwork
* Maintaining the Boiler room
* Calibrating scales and equipment


Will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:


* Knowledge:


* Complete understanding of AC/DC current 120, 230, 480, and 2300V circuitry
* Familiarity with PLC programming, HMI's, sensors, level controls, and AC/DC drives
* Must be adaptable to pneumatic and hydraulic systems
* General understanding of plant processes and equipment
* Plant safety policies and procedures such as Lockout/Tagout and NFPA70E
* Skills:


* Reading and comprehension of maintenance manuals, motor name plate information, schematics, one-line diagrams, blueprints, work orders, and preventative maintenance schedules
* Identification of power disconnects, breakers, and valves
* Mathematical calculations including calculating amperage, wattage, resistance, volt amps, calibration setups, and measurement of materials
* Writing out work orders, preventative maintenance work sheets, machine operation reports, and daily work reports
* Entering comments and generating work orders electronically using the SFIS and SAP CMMS system
* Operation and interpretation of data recorders
* Operating shop equipment
* Welding and Soldering
* Operation and installation of electrical measurement devices such as multimeters and amp meters

Education & Experience:


* Education:


* Completion of an accredited (8,000 hour) apprenticeship program, technical school program, or college degree in the electrical field
* NFPA70E Certification necessary
* All classifications of electricians will be required to attend, participate, and complete continuing education, including seminars and training sessions both in and out of the plant as directed and planned by their Shift Crew Leader or Maintenance Supervisor, as a condition of employment in this position
* Experience:


* 4 or more years of experience working as a mechanic in an industrial/manufacturing environment

* Equipment run on the job:


* PLC computer interfaces, battery hydrometers, multimeters, amp meters, hydraulic jacks, soldering irons, acetylene torch, AGV, forklifts, drill presses, band saws, hydraulic presses, lathes, scissor lifts, company vehicles, tractors, conduit benders, cable pullers, core drills, ramsets, and plant production equipment
* Tools required on the job:


* Knives, feeler gauges, micrometers, tape measures, screwdrivers, wrenches, hammers, drills, grinders, saws, pipe threaders, welders, and soldering irons
* Data used on the job:


* Motor name plate information, maintenance manuals, schematics, readouts from meters, maintenance schedules, and work order reports


Work Environment/Time Worked:


* Work Environment:


* Work occurs inside and outside of plants and buildings on the Carlisle Campus
* Potential for temperatures exceeding 120ᵒF and falling below 32ᵒF
* Working in high places near ceilings and the carbon black system
* Exposure to cleaning solution fumes, rubber fumes, airborne mica dust, mixing chemicals, contact cleaners, spray solvents, RTV, carbon black, hydraulic oils, lubricating oils, toluene, xylene, oxsol, MEK, 90 Solvent, tert butyl acetate, CMP, naptha, acetone, and loud noise levels (PPE Provided)
* 66KV supply to the electric yard
* Moving mechanical parts include conveyors, production machinery, and shop equipment
* Pinch hazards on moving mechanical parts
* Confined spaces include the vulcanizers, under equipment, mixer bodies, tanks, and silos
* Working in Class 1 Division 1, Class 1 Division 2, and Class 2 Division 2 hazardous environments
* Uniforms are issued and laundered by the company
* Time worked:


* Typically, 40 hours per week with overtime required as production demand and maintenance workload dictates.
* Days of Week Worked:


* Typically, Monday through Friday with Saturday and/or Sunday work required as production demand and maintenance workload dictates.
* Shifts Worked:


* 3 fixed shifts (11pm-7am, 7am-3:30pm, 3:30pm-11pm)
