  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, or a related field) or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in estimating or a similar role within a manufacturing or engineering job shop environment.
  • Proficiency in estimating software, ERP systems, and Microsoft Office Suite. Familiarity with CAD software is a plus.
  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and technical specifications.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and effectively.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail in estimating and documentation.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
  • This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Experience in the design and selection of fixturing and tooling for complex parts.
  • Experience in a precision machine shop environment.
  • Experience conducting process capability studies.
  • Experience optimizing process to achieve ongoing cost reductions
  • Ability to perform engineering calculations related to machining.
  • Ability to determine the nature of problems in processes.
  • LEAN / Six Sigma training and demonstrated application.
Position Summary:

The Estimating Engineer will play a critical role in our organization by providing accurate cost estimates for manufacturing projects. This role involves evaluating project requirements, analyzing engineering drawings, parts lists, specification and creating a bill of material along with estimating labor, and non-reoccurring engineering costs. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in engineering and manufacturing processes, with attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Review and analyze engineering drawings, specifications, and other project documentation to understand project requirements and scope.
  • Develop detailed cost estimates for manufacturing projects, including material costs, labor costs, equipment costs, and overheads.
  • Use historical data and industry benchmarks to support estimates and ensure accuracy.
  • Obtain and analyze quotes from suppliers and subcontractors to include in cost estimates.
  • Identify potential risks and provide recommendations to mitigate them, ensuring accurate and reliable estimates.
  • Work closely with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to gather necessary information and provide support throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Prepare and present cost estimates and proposals to management and clients, explaining methodologies and assumptions as needed.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, new technologies, and best practices to enhance estimating processes and improve accuracy.
  • Other duties as assigned.
