*What You Do.*  

* Assists Plant Food Safety teams in developing appropriate and consistent content, documentation, and execution of Food Safety Plans. 

* Seeks information from internal (R&D, Operations, Supply Quality, Operational Quality, etc.) and external (suppliers, consultants) functional experts to resolve issues. 

* Under close supervision, will conduct basic microbiological and environmental pathogen testing using established laboratory procedures. 

* Performs a variety of routine scientific tasks that provide experience and familiarization with technical and other functional areas using the methods, practices, and programs of Sargento Foods Inc. (SFI) 

* Reviews, interprets, and/or writes consultative or scientific reports, whitepapers, and presentations related to Food Safety. 

* Applies quality tools and approaches (e.g., root cause analysis, pareto charting, process mapping, cause and effect diagramming, etc.). Collects and evaluates data and writes reports to document deviations from existing programs. Understands tracking, trending, and data analysis tools. 

* Assists in writing, communication, and training of Quality and Food Safety Systems Programs and standard operating procedures.

*Your Education and Qualifications.*

* Pursuing a bachelor's degree in food safety, microbiology, biology, chemistry, food science, or another related field, having completed junior year prior to starting internship

* Passion for learning and growing in the Food Safety field 

*  Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. 

*  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. 

* Ability to effectively present information to peers and colleagues. 

*  Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

* Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. 

* Proficiency in MS Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook)

* Valid driver's license and vehicle required. There is not mass/public transit system to/from corporate housing location to company locations
