As a Senior Autonomy Project Team Lead, you will develop, integrate, and validate autonomy features for complex autonomy systems that meet prioritized requirements for autonomous machine programs, which focus on machine safety and productivity and provide a differentiated product value to our customers. You will be responsible for working with the Tucson Proving Grounds to ensure machine Fleet Health.

What you will do:

  • Lead the development, testing, and troubleshooting of autonomy software systems used for autonomous machines. This generally includes onboard system validation work that integrates with current machine systems and includes the autonomy sub system areas of Planning, Perception and Positioning technologies, as well as infrastructure areas supporting development of these sub-systems (calibration, simulation, analytics, machine learning development pipelines).
  • This position will work closely with the Autonomy Software Developers and Strategist roles to translate complex program or subsystem requirements into actionable development efforts and support the evaluation and development of internal and external automation validation.
  • Responsible for leading a team of engineers and technicians to deliver on program commitments.
  • Other responsibilities include a strong quality focus through thorough test planning and execution. Thorough documentation and communication of issues is a must.
  • Provide technical leadership and training to new staff members. Good communication is expected for technical status updates, test plan reviews, and when working closely with autonomy validation engineers, support teams, and product support.
  • Responsible for working with TPG and machine teams to ensure machine fleet health
Education Requirement: Bachelor's degree in an accredited Engineering or Computer Science curriculum.

What Skills you will have:

Information Technology Trends: Deep technical Autonomy knowledge and very strong machine development/validation skills to develop high- quality validation plans and ensure the execution of those plans. Advanced data analysis and systems analysis efforts and skills are needed to help troubleshoot complex issues from test or customer sites, and to examine information from test sites to improve overall systems performance. Keeping up with industry trends and new technology breakthroughs is essential and requires continuous learning through self/internet study, as well as interaction with other autonomous engineers through conferences and papers.

Planning: Tactical, Strategic: Knowledge of effective planning techniques and ability to contribute to operational (short term), tactical (1-2 years) and strategic (3-5 years) planning in support of the overall business plan.

Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.

Relationship Management: Knowledge of relationship management techniques; ability to establish and maintain healthy working relationships with clients, vendors, and peers.

Cross-Team Integration: Understanding of the importance of inter-team collaboration in breaking down silos and achieving business results; ability to lead employees from various functions to communicate, coordinate work across divisions, and collaborate in solving problems as one team.

Managing People: Knowledge of processes involved in managing people; ability to lead successful teams, and diligently address issues related to performance and conflicts at the workplace.

Project Management: Knowledge of effective project management strategies and tactics; ability to plan, organize, monitor, and control projects, ensuring efficient utilization of technical and administrative resources to achieve project objectives.

Software Development Life Cycle: Knowledge of software development life cycle; ability to use a structured methodology for delivering and managing new or enhanced software products to the marketplace. Ability to meet NPI milestones for each program by delivering quality systems on time that meet agreed upon features for each milestone.

The primary location for this position is Green Valley, AZ (Tucson Proving Ground).
