Job Description:

NVE has an opportunity for a Full-time Licensed Engineer with a Top-Secret Clearance at a Government Facility supporting the 3rd shift (10 PM – 6 AM). We are looking for a team member who is skilled and licensed as an engineer and enjoys learning new equipment.  Licensed Engineer shall have a minimum of five (5) years of experience within the last eight (8) years in the operation of chillers rated at least 500 tons and fuel fired boilers. First (1st) Class Engineer License or comparable license is required.

We take pride in cross training all of our team members on the various types of equipment and building automation systems through on the job training. The site offers overtime opportunities as well. The facility sits in Beltsville, MD at a great location that helps to avoid the heavy traffic inside the beltway.

NVE  provides full O&M support at this facility. The Licensed Engineer would be responsible for:


  • Operating and maintaining the assigned facility and all related systems/components, including the building automation system.

  • Performing tours of areas and/or equipment as directed by management and required under the contract specification.

  • Performing service calls, diagnostic services, and incidental, minor, and major repairs as required.

  • Performing preventive maintenance duties in accordance with NVE standards, building protocol, manufacturer recommendations and industry best practices. including changing filters, cleaning coils, flushing condensers, punching tubes, greasing fan, pump and motor bearings as required, inspecting and adjusting belts, replacing motor bearings, aligning pulleys and shafts, monitor condenser, chilled, heating and secondary water chemical treatment and its associated feed equipment, clean and maintain cooling towers, and perform annual inspections and other scheduled routines as directed.

  • Performing scheduled and unscheduled maintenance and repairs of all equipment and systems outlined in the Employer's contract with the Government to include mechanical, electrical, and sanitary systems as needed.

  • Performing other duties as required or directed by management.

Licensing, certifications, and proof of training, to substantiate experience will be required as part of the application process for:


  • Licensed Stationary Operating Engineer (MD) or DC 3rd Class License required.

  • DC First Class Boiler Operator (NAPE) desirable

  • Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Universal CFC License, desirable

  • Factory Training for different boiler/chiller systems, desirable

Candidate must be available to work 3rd shift Monday through Friday from 2200 to 0630 weekly.

Candidates must be US Citizens and have the ability to maintain a government DOD Top Secret security clearance. Top-Secret clearance is required.

This is a Local 99 Union position.
