This position will report directly to the Assistant Director of the Office of Student Conduct to help foster a safe and prosperous environment for our students on the Norman, Oklahoma City and Tulsa campuses. What you will do: 



  • Assist with day-to-day office manager responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate student employees and peer educators

  • Coordinate clerical office duties and support including ordering supplies, handling cash, reconciliation of conduct administrative fees, and management of online student conduct payment system

  • Provide clerical support for departmental hiring, trainings, and system access for new hires

  • Provide limited support with purchases, travel, policies and procedures, awards, funding requests, and reimbursement requests

  • Facilitate training and outreach services for OU community members

  • Serve as a university hearing officer and as a liaison to University departments

  • Serve as an informal resolution process facilitator including organizing conflict resolution gatherings and dialogues

  • Maintain and monitor the Student Conduct database system 

  • Assist with planning, development, and implementation of designated student programs and services

  • Assess the needs of students and helps to develop and implement targeted programs and services

  • Conduct workshops, seminars, classes, and other special programs for students

  • Oversee record maintenance, to include but not limited to student files, inventory, and other office files

  • Assist with development and administration of office policies and procedures

  • Research, collect, and analyze data or information and prepare reports or responses to inquires 

  • Oversee and provide professional administrative support for the department

  • Assist with developing, implementing, and interpreting policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with Federal, State, and University policies and regulations

  • Assist with coordination and planning of events and logistics. Negotiate with contractors and vendors.  Coordinates and executes department events.

  • Select, supervise, trains, and evaluate performance of assigned student staff

  • Perform various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the function of the position

Required Education and Experience:  High School Diploma/GED, AND:



  • 12 months office, clerical, or administrative experience


Skills:



  • Working knowledge of office procedures.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, and Word)

  • Ability to work as a team member.

  • Ability to complete tasks in an efficient and timely manner.

  • Ability to multitask, be organized, and self-motivated

  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing. 

  • Basic math skills.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.

  • Computer skills, including proficiency in navigating and maintaining databases

  • Detail oriented for accuracy of data and information

  • Highly organized and ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines

  • Ability to communicate well and build quickly with students, faculty and staff

  • Outstanding communicator and strong writer; an individual who possesses superior written and verbal communication skills, as well as the ability to present views in a clear and compelling manner

  • Familiarity working with a university information management systems

  • Experience producing budgetary reports

  • Ability to effectively communicate both one-on-one and to large groups

  • Ability to objectively evaluate both allegations and defenses

  • Ability to effectively present evidence to a hearing panel

  • Ability to produce reports of investigations and work within tight deadlines

  • Ability to remain calm in stressful or confrontational situations

  • Must be able to communicate directions and expectations effectively

  • Must be able to create and deliver effective training presentations

  • Superior, balanced judgment with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential information professionally and appropriately with great discretion

  • Ability to anticipate problems, critical issues, and opportunities as they arise and advise accordingly.


Departmental Preferences:



  • Bachelor's Degree in higher education administration or its equivalence (Human Relations, Student Affairs, Educational Leadership, Conflict Resolution, etc.)


Supervision:



  • Approximately 5 student employees
