Job Description Summary / TWC Summary:

Under general supervision is responsible for the administrative and academic functions of the Mathematical Sciences Department. Teaches at the undergraduate and graduate levels, leads the faculty in continued curricular development, engages in and promotes active research, and leads initiatives to build the academic program and to secure necessary funding and accreditations.


Essential Duties Summary:



  • Assumes responsibility for the administrative and academic functions of the department.

  • Teaches at the undergraduate and the graduate levels. Leads the faculty in continued curricular development.

  • Engages in and promotes active research.

  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Dean of the College of Science, Engineering and Technology (COSET).

  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Hiring Range:

Commensurate with experience.


Education:

A Ph.D. in Mathematics or a related discipline from an accredited institution is required. The successful applicant should be eligible for a tenured Professor level position, and should have a distinguished record of successful program administration in an academic setting and a reputation for teaching, research and intellectual leadership.


Required Licensing/Certification:

None required.

Knowledge of:


  • Policies, department procedures, and practices.

  • Microsoft Office Professional or similar applications.

  • Teaching platforms and administration platforms.

  • Prepare detailed reports.

  • Dynamic individuals with demonstrated leadership ability who can lead the faculty in continued curricular development, excellence in teaching, and scholarly activity, and growth in funded research.

  • Work independently.

  • Demonstrable commitment to undergraduate and graduate education as well as proven record of scholarly achievement in a field of Mathematical Sciences.

  • Communicate effectively.


Work Experience:

Experience in teaching, research and service, and in administration at department or project level in a 4‐year institution preferred.


A record of significant grantsmanship research achievement, and publication is necessary.


Working/Environmental Conditions:



  • Limited standing and/or walking.

  • Handling light weight objects.

  • Using or carrying equipment.
