Assistant Professor of Psychological Sciences

The Department of Psychological Sciences at William & Mary, a public university of the Commonwealth of Virginia, seeks applications for two tenure track positions at the Assistant Professor level in Experimental Psychology/Cognitive Science. We are hiring one person with expertise in Affective Neuroscience and a second person with expertise in Sensation and Perception. In addition to complementing and expanding the current strengths of Psychological Sciences faculty, the ability to collaborate within and across academic units is highly valued. Appointment will begin August 10, 2025. Located in historic Williamsburg, Virginia and close to metropolitan areas such as Richmond, Norfolk, and Virginia Beach, William & Mary consistently ranks among the top public universities nationally.
Duties include research, teaching, and service to the University. Applicants are expected to establish and maintain a vibrant research program that inspires a highly motivated undergraduate student body as well as master's students and that has the potential to yield external funding. Teaching expectation is two courses per semester. Successful applicants will have some instructional experience and must possess the skills to teach compelling courses at all levels of the curriculum in their area of expertise and service courses. Successful applicants will further have a demonstrated track record of scholarly achievement.
Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in a field related to the desired areas of expertise at the time appointment begins (August 10, 2025).
Postdoctoral experience is preferred. Previous experience teaching and mentoring undergraduate and graduate research is preferred.
