Responsibilities

The Department of Social Sciences and Interdisciplinary Studies at Johnson C. Smith University invites applications for a one-year, renewable visiting assistant professor position beginning Spring 2025. Responsibilities include but are not limited to teaching introduction to American government, policy analysis, state and local politics, Constitutional Law, Black political thought, civil rights and civil liberties, research methods, senior investigative paper, criminal law, and courts. Must be ABD or hold a Ph.D. in Political Science or public policy. Experience or strong interest in shaping a growing pre-law program preferred.

Qualifications


Earned Doctorate (or ABD) or the terminal degree according to current academic and professional standards for the specific discipline. If the earned degree is in a closely related discipline, the faculty must have at least 18 graduate semester hours in the teaching discipline or documented justifiable scholarly and professional experience in the discipline certified by the respective College Dean;
Attainment of this rank is a minimum requirement for being considered for tenure.
