Earlham School of Religion is hiring a Director of Recruitment and Admissions
Job Summary:
The ESR Director of Recruitment and Admissions reports to the Dean and operates within the Admissions Policy as set by the Dean and Faculty. The Director of Recruitment and Admissions bears primary responsibility for identifying and recruiting quality students for the 2024-2025 academic year.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Major Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain a written strategic plan for student recruitment in cooperation with the Dean including components of demographics, goals for contacts, applications, admits, and enrolled students, and recruitment activities;
Work cooperatively to create a unified plan of communication and engagement with constituents.
Research and develop effective strategies for recruiting graduate students via the internet, visitation, and print media that will support the goals for contacts and applications.
Coordinate advertising, marketing materials, both print and digital, sponsorships, and memberships that contribute to recruiting new students; Coordinate with EC MarCom and ITS regarding the ESR website.
Represent ESR at events, or coordinate for another person to attend (reach out to students/alumni/faculty, schedule and make arrangements, prepare tabling packets, mail them out, track signs and marketing materials).
Create a positive first impression with persons interested in ESR, practicing active listening and questioning in an effort to help the discernment process of prospective students.
Conduct recruitment and admission activities within the approved budge
General supervision of the Admissions office activities.
Supervise the use of the electronic prospective student database.
Contact and cultivate relationships with identified prospective students including vocational and educational discernment as appropriate, and accurately representing the mission and purpose of ESR as a Christian seminary committed to preparation for ministry of all qualified students willing to study within the context of ESR's stated mission and purpose
Coordinate on-campus and virtual visits for interested potential students;
Within the Financial Aid policy and in consultation with the Dean and Director of Operations select Cooper and other scholarship recipients
Take responsibility for planning new student orientation along with the Director of Student Services. When appropriate, this includes working with peers at Bethany for a joint orientation
Be an active, visible member of the ESR community.
Serve on ESR and Earlham committees as needed.
Job Specific Duties:
Coordinate advertising, sponsorships, and memberships that contribute to recruiting new students
Create or co-create all marketing components, both print and digital, including the ESR website, brochures, social media posts, etc.
Respond to and follow up with all interest requests via phone, email and slate
Meet via Zoom or in person with prospective applicants and applicants to help them discern their goals and plans
Communicate with applicants during the application process
Process all application materials and components that are not automatically uploaded in Slate, including fees, background checks, transcripts and some references.
Download the application and share them with the Admissions Committee for review; follow up with the committee and the applicants
Enter new students into Banner
Coordinate and present New Student Orientation
Represent ESR at events, or coordinate for another rep to attend (reach out to students/alumni/faculty, schedule and make arrangements, prepare tabling packets, mail them to the rep, track signs and marketing materials)
Communicate and coordinate with EC MarCom and ITS regarding the ESR Website, Slate, and Banner (updates, troubleshooting, etc.)
Contribute to the updates of the ESR catalog and student handbook
Assist with onboarding new staff/faculty
Attend ESR faculty meetings
Meet weekly with Director of Business & Student Services, Seminary Registrar, Director of Communications, Director of Development, the Dean and the Assistant to the Dean
Participate in at least one ESR and one EC committee
Attend ESR events
Serve as back up for the Director of Business & Student Services, Seminary Registrar, Director of Communications, Director of Development, and the Assistant to the Dean as needed
Qualifications
B.A. degree required. M.Div. or M.Min. strongly preferred;
A Valid Driver's License is required with 2 or more years of driving history.
Understand the value of theological education, the diversity of Friends and the wider Church, and the Quaker understanding of universal ministry;
Outgoing, available for frequent travel, and at ease in unfamiliar public settings;
Creativity, strong organizational, communication, and personal skills are essential
Self-starter, good listener, speaker, and writer
Able to work independently while being part of a team effort.
