The Noble Laboratory (noble.web.unc.edu) at UNC Chapel Hill's Institute of Marine Sciences is looking for a temporary researcher in viral and bacterial pathogen research, particularly as applied to wastewater, shellfish, and water quality. The research technician will work under the supervision of Dr. Rachel Noble as an integral part of a multi-disciplinary collaboratory group. Candidate should be proficient with Microsoft Office. Candidate should be able to demonstrate competencies in general laboratory operations and lab safety (pH meter theory and operation, aseptic technique, microbiological techniques, solution preparation). This position is in Morehead City, NC. This is a part time position for up to 20 hours per week. Normal working hours are from 8am-5pm M-F, however occasionally there may be evening and weekend work. Candidate should be able to perform work outside, on a boat, and in knee deep water. Candidate should be able to lift 50 lbs. with or without reasonable accommodation. Candidate should be able to work independently.
