Fifteen credit hours a semester constitutes a standard load. Course assignments may be day, late afternoon, evening and Saturday. Position is subject to all terms and provisions of the Joliet Junior College faculty contract.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Develop and periodically review, evaluate, and revise - as needed - a simulation plan that is based on the International Nursing Association for Clinical Simulation and Learning (INACSL) standards.
2. Develop and implement research tools as needed; analyze research data.
3. Serve as the simulation expert in developing simulation experiences that follow INACSL standards.

4. Utilize course objectives to design, develop, pilot, implement, and revise simulation scenarios and skills-based learning activities.
5. Facilitate simulation and skills-based learning experiences according to evidence-based standards and best practice guidelines.
6. Utilize web-based and online systems to manage documents related to simulation objectives and course outcomes.
7. Determine and implement the process for requesting and evaluation of simulation activities based on INACSL standards.
8. Create policies and procedures to support and sustain the simulation program and communicate them to the faculty and staff.
9. Implement or facilitate professional development for faculty related to simulation.
10. Serve as the simulation subject matter expert on the nursing department Curriculum and Evaluation Committees.
11. Be a liaison to faculty when scheduling and utilizing Simulation lab.
12. Collaborates with the Department Chair and the Simulation Coordinator to determine necessary purchases and budgetary requests.
13. Prepare annual budget recommendation by February of each academic year in collaboration with the Simulation Coordinator and Department Chair.
14. Collect and analyze simulation assessment data and report findings to the Department Chair.
15. Assist with writing grants to support the simulation program.
16. Assist with tours of the simulation lab and recruiting activities as needed.
17. Teach classes in nursing theory and practicum courses offered through the Department of Nursing Education as it relates to the program, if needed.
18. Work closely with other instructors and special programs and services within the college to determine curriculum and academic support.
19. Participate in course development, assessment, and planning activities.
20. Have and maintain a thorough knowledge of the subject matter necessary to the assigned course load and keep informed of current trends in the field of nursing and health care.
21. Be willing to teach online and/or blended courses, if needed.
22. Participate in appropriate departmental meetings and recruitment activities.
23. Assist students with academic advising.
24. Demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching and learning.
25. Demonstrate strong understanding and commitment to the community college mission.
26. Meet other contractual obligations as spelled out in the Joliet Junior College faculty contract.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

1. Master's Degree in Nursing.
2. Current Illinois Licensure as R.N.
3. Recent work experience in acute medical/surgical area,
4. Expertise in appropriate simulation technologies for instruction.
5. Ability to work days, evenings, or weekends.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

1. Teaching experience at the collegiate level.
2. Two-year's experience in health care simulation.
3. Two-year's experience of full-time nursing experience in the acute care setting.
4. Experience at the community college level.
5. Experience in teaching online and/or using course management programs.
6. Experience in course development and assessment, planning, quality and accreditation processes, and committee service.
7. Experience with traditional and non-traditional students from diverse backgrounds.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
1. Normal classroom physical demands.
2. Ability to travel between campus locations and to and from community events.
3. Ability to lift up to 50lbs.
