Job Description

The Student Success Specialist plays a critical role in fostering a strong collaboration between Texas A&M University-Central Texas (TAMUCT) and Temple College (TC) to promote a culture of STEM education. This position coordinates and facilitates the success of STEM camps hosted by TAMUCT, which are held face-to-face on campus. These camps are designed to inspire and engage students in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.





Applicants must be authorized to work for any US employer. The department is unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment visa at this time.




This position is currently grant funded. The estimated end date for the grant is currently September 30, 2026. Continuation of the position is contingent upon available funding.




Essential Duties and Responsibilities:




  • Serve as the primary liaison between TAMUCT and TC to ensure smooth communication and collaboration in organizing and executing STEM camps.




  • Coordinate all aspects of the STEM camps, including scheduling, logistics, and promoting a STEM-focused learning environment.




  • Purchase necessary materials and supplies for the camps, ensuring all resources are available and prepared in advance.




  • Set up and organize the camp spaces prior to each session and manage the cleanup and reset after each camp concludes.




  • Handle all administrative duties related to the camps, including purchasing and reconciling materials, food, and travel expenses for both students and faculty members.




  • Reconcile expenses related to professional development travel for faculty and staff members, ensuring accurate records and timely reimbursement.




  • Support transfer students from Temple College as part of the HSI STEM cohort, helping to facilitate a smooth transition to TAMUCT and providing ongoing guidance through the process.




  • Ensure compliance with budgetary guidelines and maintain detailed records of all purchases and expenditures.




  • This role is pivotal in creating a positive and enriching STEM experience for participants, supporting HSI STEM transfer students, and ensuring all logistical, administrative, and financial tasks are managed efficiently.




  • Creates purposeful interactions between students and academic institutions to design individualized, student-centered educational plans that lay the foundation for student success.




  • Provides goal-oriented advising to foster informed choices in students' educational planning. Suggests and directs access of University resources relevant to career investigation.




  • Assists students in understanding academic studies, curriculum requirements, and the relationship between majors and careers. Develops weekly schedules based on individual student needs and previous academic preparation.




  • Assumes primary responsibility for early intervention, implementation, and follow-up for students assigned to the University.




  • Assists students in addressing problems and connects them with appropriate support services on campus.




  • Conveys implications of various policies and procedures related to academic probation and suspension, dropping courses, and satisfactory academic progress.

Minimum Requirements:




  • Bachelor's degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.






Preferred requirements:




  • Bachelor's degree in the STEM-field of study.






Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:




  • Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet and database applications.




  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.






Salary: $43,888



Hours: Monday - Friday; 8am to 5pm



Supervision of Others: This position generally does not supervise employees.



Work Location:
This is not a fully remote position and selected candidate will be required to work on campus. However, some remote hours may be permitted as determined appropriate by supervisor.
