Job Description:

Job DescriptionThe School of Professional Studies is seeking adjunct instructors to develop and teach new courses including Life Sciences Industry Essentials & Career Readiness, Professional Writing for Life Sciences, and Essential Math & Statistics for Research for a planned undergraduate certificate in life sciences industry fundamentals.  Courses will be offered in an online and/or hybrid semester-based format geared toward part-time, adult undergraduate students.  Instructors will add their subject matter expertise and real-world examples, partnering with MCPHS leaders to ensure content is relevant to employers. As part of the course development process, instructors will partner with a project manager and instructional design manager. The instructor will play an important role in the continuous improvement and overall success of the course Work with assigned course designer to develop content (assignments, presentations, readings, discussion boards, quizzes, exams) as needed. Develop and provide students with an approved syllabus that includes course objectives and learning outcomes, teaching methodology, attendance policies in line with those of the School, texts and readings, assignments and deliverables, timelines, and evaluation criteriaDeliver course instruction, using the University learning management system and digital toolsUse the University’s learning management system to post syllabus, assignments, and other materials and to communicate with students. Advise and assist students through office hours or scheduled appointments, by video conference, phone or email, and through other University-approved mechanismsProvide service, including student mentoring, ongoing course development, and collaboration towards a new certificate in life sciences industry fundamentals.Maintain communication with the Program Director and Assistant Dean, identifying any students of concern and relaying student progress. Maintain a presence in the course as directed by the Program Director, including answering student emails promptly, participating in interactive course elements where necessaryEnsure the course meets the high-quality standards of other MCPHS online and on-campus coursesIdentify tactics to improve the course based on feedbackSupport incorporation of diversity, equity and inclusion into the curriculumAdditional responsibilities may be assigned by the supervisor.  Requirements


Required

Advanced degree in related field  Previous experience teaching and/or developing courses to undergraduate students in adult, part-time, or online programs Previous experience in the life sciences Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills A commitment to student success and the ability to engage and motivate students Must be able to work independently and effectively interact with a wide array of parties at all levels (students, faculty, administration/staff, alumni, and external constituents) Experience with a learning management system, such as Blackboard Experience with video-conferencing platforms, such as Zoom
