Job Description Summary
The primary duties of the Clinical Research Coordinator A will include: Screen and enroll subjects for one or more federally-funded studies in a fast-paced inpatient hospital setting; screen/enroll eligible subjects 5 days/week, in-person; obtain informed consent from study subjects or their proxies (in-person or by phone); human specimen collection (anatomical and environmental swabs) with hospital subjects; specimen collection from healthcare workers and other hospital staff; coordinate specimen tracking and drop off with research laboratory staff; coordinate study operations with staff; ensure protocol compliance; data abstraction from medical records; data entry, maintain patient and data tracking system; participate in the development of study materials and procedures; participate in weekly research team meetings. This position involves working in the hospital and spending the majority of the workday on the hospital units. This position also involves collection and coordination of biological samples with transport to the microbiology laboratory as well as coordination of study activities with data management. Collection and coordination of biological samples requires extreme flexibility within the daily work schedule. This position reports directly to the study's project manager. This position may require flexibility to work occasional nights/weekends.
The Clinical Research Coordinator B will perform all of the above duties with a greater level of independence and less direction from senior project management staff. The Clinical Research Coordinator B will also be responsible for developing and maintaining tracking systems of both subjects and specimens in REDCap and LabVantage databases. This includes some data cleaning and analysis and generation of data queries.

Job Responsibilities
Determination of subject eligibility upon detailed review of medical chart via EPIC; assembling study enrollment packets.
Approach all eligible subjects every weekday and obtain informed consent.
Collection of multiple sets of human or environmental specimens on two hospital units (nose, throat, groin swabs and hand cultures)
Medical Chart Abstraction (using multiple hospital databases) - Data to be collected will include: patient demographics, clinical and laboratory data, vital signs, medications. Data Entry into study database / database management
Coordination of biological specimen collection and transport that involves labeling & organizing specimens; Attend web-based or in-person meeting to discuss data
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications
Familiarity with medical abbreviations and antibiotics a plus; Ability to work with greater independence also with regard to decision-making. Proficient in Microsoft Windows including MS Word/Excel/Access; REDCap database and hospital databases, like EPIC familiarity preferred. Must have a driver's license; access to a car is a plus. Must have the ability to work independently and be detail oriented with excellent communication and interpersonal skills; highly organized; attentive to detail. Ability to interact well with study subjects and their household members is required. This position requires flexibility to work occasional nights/weekends. Flexibility is also required in terms of being able to shift the work schedule (e.g., 9am-5pm, or 10am-6pm, or 12pm-8pm) depending on the workflow and subject appointment cancellations and rescheduling that often occurs.
Clinical Research Coordinator A: Bachelor's degree required and 1-2 years research experience of related experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience); clinical experience preferred.
Clinical Research Coordinator B: Bachelor's degree required and 2-3 years of related experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience); clinical and regulatory experience preferred.

Pay Range
