The candidate selected for this position will perform mechanical testing and chemical analysis of various spaceflight materials, hardware and components. The job will involve minimal interfacing with customers. The candidate will also be required to perform metallographic preparation of metallic materials for further study.
Required Skills: The candidate must have knowledge and understanding of the mechanical properties of materials, (primarily metallics) basic testing used in determining those properties, and chemical analysis. Excellent writing skills and communication skills are a plus.
Desired Skills: Laboratory experience would be very beneficial. Experience in operating tensile test equipment, hardness/microhardness machines, spectrometers, scanning electron microscopes, optical microscopes. A background in metallography would be a plus.
