Job Description:

JAS is an international, non-asset-based supply chain services and solutions company. Our services include air and ocean freight forwarding, contract logistics, customs brokerage, distribution, inbound logistics, truckload brokerage and other supply chain management services, including consulting, the coordination of purchase orders and customized management services.


The Senior Accountant will be responsible for the monthly close, financial review and variance analysis. Daily activities will include creation of journal entries and expense approval.



ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:



  • Forecast mid-month and end of month financial results and report month end

  • Balance sheet reconciliations and P&L commentaries • financial statements review and variance analysis

  • Assist with preparation of annual budgets

  • Work on annual audit

  • Special Projects - currently working on implementation of the Global Lease Accounting and Management Software

  • Implement accounting policies, procedures, and controls identified by the Accounting Manager

  • Backup to other team members so will eventually be trained on Bank entries and reconciliation, AR and AP

  • Other duties and projects as needed



QUALIFICATIONS:



  • Mastery of the MS Office Professional suite, particularly Excel

  • Merger & Acquisition experience a strong plus

  • Fluent in Spanish

  • Experience with JD Edwards and Cognos a plus

  • Strong knowledge of GAAP

  • Detail oriented, able to multitask and meet deadlines

  • Self-motivated, able to work in a team and independently

  • Exceptional organizational and communication skills (written and verbal)



EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:



  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance

  • CPA track preferred

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in accounting

  • International accounting experience

  • Prior experience as a Financial Analyst, Staff Accountant, or equivalent duties

  • Strong GL, AP, AR, Close, and Reporting experience



ENVIRONMENT:



100% performed in climate-controlled internal office environment working under normal office conditions. Travel could be (up to 10%) required in support of the position's responsibilities.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; stand; walk; use hands and finger to feel and handle; reach with arms and hands; talk and hear. While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently is required to stoop, kneel, and crouch; lift weight or exert a force up to a maximum of 25 pounds.
