Position Summary:

The Principal Engineer has the leadership role in a full multi- technology project, by going outside one area of expertise and managing all areas. They will develop, implement, and support collaboration services and solutions for consulting clients by utilizing outside resources in different areas of technology. Also, to continue to build a customer-focused relationship with client to identify business challenges and develop specifications and requirements to arrive at the best solution.

Roles and Responsibilities/ Essential Functions:

  • Lead and mentor an entire team of team members for large projects including but not limited to; other Engineering resources, sales team members, project management, etc. while working towards a positive outcome for all involved.
  • Execute large projects multifaceted and challenging customer projects, with Project Managers and Leads, on time and on budget.
  • Take an active leadership and articulate to Project managers what is needed and lead the other engineers to ensure tasks are being completely accurately.
  • Take ownership of the Engineering of multi technology project including; creating project templates, researching and utilizing appropriate resources.
  • Provide daily updates on all projects and being proactive with communication to all parties on timelines, hours, resources, concerns, etc.
  • Demonstrates excellent communication skills and take a leadership role in team and customer meetings.
  • Contribute to product selection and research, configuration standards and best practices and educate our sales teams on these products and services so that they can sell them.
  • Provide support, maintenance, and administration for customer networks.
  • Ability to work in a team atmosphere between regional and virtual practices. At all times maintaining a professional and respectful demeanor.
  • Provide time estimates and project scopes for networking related projects.
  • Maintain current vendor/industry specific certifications and stay current on new products and solutions.
  • Follow the Engineering skills matrix to continue to challenge the status quo.
  • Minimum of 1,450 hours billed per fiscal year prorated based on start date. These charge hour requirements will be balanced against professional development and on the job training.

Required Experience:

  • 8+ years in a technical related field

Preferred Experience:

  • 10+ years in a technical related field
  • 8+ years' experience working as a consultant

Required Skills, Education and/ or Certifications:

  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent certifications
  • CCNP, CCDP, CCIE, ACMP, ACCP, ACCX, ACEAP or equivalent level certifications
  • Experience designing and architecting network based solutions
  • Installing and supporting Cisco or HP/Aruba network switching and routing products
  • IOS, IOS-XR, NX-OS Experience/Best Practices
  • Routing Protocols—OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, L2 / L3 Architecture and Design Multicast, QoS

Preferred Skills, Education and/ or Certifications:

  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent certifications
  • CCNP, CCDP, CCIE, ACMP, ACCP, ACCX, ACEAP or equivalent level certifications
  • Experience designing and architecting network based solutions
  • Installing and supporting Cisco or HP/Aruba network switching and routing products
  • IOS, IOS-XR, NX-OS Experience/Best Practices
  • Routing Protocols—OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, L2 / L3 Architecture and Design Multicast, QoS

  • Bachelors Degree
  • At least two or more Associate level certifications
  • CCNA, ACMA, ACCA, CMNA or equivalent level certifications
  • Installing and supporting Cisco or HP/Aruba network switching and routing products
  • IOS, IOS-XR, NX-OS Experience/Best Practices
  • Cisco Nexus technologies such as VDC, vPC, VXLAN, etc.
  • Routing Protocols—OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, L2 / L3 Architecture and Design Multicast, QoS
  • Cisco based ISR-based VPN solutions such as FLEX-VPN, GET-VPN, or DMVPN.
  • Data Center / Core design, configuration, and implementation utilizing Cisco Nexus Architecture (9K, 7K, 6K, 5K, 3K, 2K, 1000V).
  • Software Defined Networking (SDA, SD-WAN)
  • Cisco/Meraki/Aruba Wireless
  • Controller or autonomous based
  • Design using Ekahau or similar product
  • High Density/Manufacturing/Office/Education
  • Familiarity or experience with:
  • Meraki (Wireless, Security Products, Switches, SDWAN)
  • Citrix NetScaler ADC/SDWAN deployment a plus
  • Network security appliances Including Cisco ASA/FTD, Palo Alto firewalls and related technology
  • Additional core technologies such as: Riverbed, OpenDNS, Infoblox, Cisco Optical, NetBrain, FireEye, SolarWinds, SPLUNK?
