Innovation is a 110 person unit of Mass General Brigham responsible for the worldwide commercial application of the unique capabilities and discoveries of its 60,000 employees and faculty. It has exclusive responsibility for industry collaborations, investing, international consulting, company creating, licensing, and innovation management. It supports the research requirements of its Harvard Medical School appointed faculty and its core hospitals - Harvard affiliates Brigham and Women's Hospital, Massachusetts General Hospital and McLean Hospital.



General Overview



The Innovation group drafts and negotiates research and licensing agreements in service of Innovation's mission to translate Partners' science to the patient bedside. The legal agreements are of high volume, and must comport with regulatory requirements and the hospital's policies. The Intern will assist transactional associates with managing transactions, information, correspondence and contracts.



Principal Duties and Responsibilities


1. Assist with the revision of legal agreements related to research and licensing at Mass General Brigham-affiliated institutions.
2. Help maintain and distribute agreements to all parties and appropriate Institutional entities.
3. Maintain and update appropriate files and databases.
4. Perform research on matters related to the protection and licensing of IP rights.
5. Perform discrete special project and other relevant duties as assigned.



Qualifications

Skills, Abilities, Competencies


1. Interest in IP law, health law, contract drafting and negotiating strongly preferred.
2. Highly organized, with ability to maintain attention to detail; ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
3. Flexibility and adaptability in managing multiple concurrent tasks and relationships.
4. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
5. Positive, energetic team member with a results-oriented, professional outlook.
