CAD Operator - Columbia, SC

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Sr. Manager R&D Electronics, the CAD Operator is responsible for operating Computer-Aided Design (CAD) systems and producing clear and technically accurate drawings based on design specifications.  This role also focuses on following all relevant engineering procedures and instructions so that each job is conducted in a controlled and consistent manner. This position is responsible for completing the day-to-day operations related to a CAD Operator in the Electronics R&D Engineering Department to ensure consistency of workflow and the generation of drawings.   

Primary Functions:


  • Assists Engineers with drawings related to antenna developmental work.


  • Creating, modifying, and releasing drawings

  • Work from drawings, sketches, or scanned images for design elements

  • Prepare and review drawings for final print stage

  • Completion of project in a timely fashion


  •  Maintenance, publication, and file management of Engineering Change Notice (ECN’s).


  • Revise documentation as the design changes

  • Modify drawings and/or create new drawings

  • Incorporate procedures to process all ECN’s

  • Notification to all relevant departments of design changes

  • Maintain file log and assignment of ECN #’s


  • Maintain publication and file management of Product Development Request (PDR’s), and 10-Digit part number assignment.


  • Log-in and assign project & part numbers

  • Incorporate procedures to process request of PDR’s & part numbers


  • Maintain Electronics R&D Engineering Department prints, original and electronic files.


  • Original hard copy of current revision

  • Electron file with current revision updates and yearly audit of file


  • Documenting & tracking POs for R&D PDR projects.


  • Incorporate procedures to process PO’s

  • Track project cost


  • Office Administrator of Antenna R&D


  • Administrator R&D 6-R’s safety; Incorporate ISO Standards Engineering; Housekeeping of general office procedures

Secondary Functions:


  • Use network systems (EPICOR)

  • Work and interact with others to ensure information is conveyed in a consistent and accurate manner

  • Ensure drawing standards and guidelines are followed

  • General office administration procedures

  • Incorporate procedures for ISO Standards for internal audit of Electronics R&D

 

Education and Experience:

Education


  • Degree or Certification from a CAD training facility or 2 years' experience in CAD systems

 

Experience/Knowledge

Technical Role Competencies


  • Solid Works, Pro/Engineer-Creo, Fusion 360 or equivalent

  • AutoCAD

  • Microsoft Office

  • Excel spreadsheets.

  • CAD: Solid Works to AutoCAD conversion and AutoCAD to Solid Work file conversion

 

Preferred Experience/Qualifications:


  • Four or more years of progressive CAD Operator Experience

  • Experience with Military/Marine antenna applications

  • CAD system proficiency

  • Knowledge of drafting standards

  • Be able to work with minimal supervision, be a self-starter, and be detail-oriented

  • Must be able to self-check own work for accuracy and completeness

 

Physical Requirements & Work Environment:


  • Sitting at workstation approximately 85% of work time. Standing and walking approximately 15% of work time walking the Military and Marine floors and available to observe and help coworkers. 

  • Support Marine/Military Sales Managers with technical documentation support and product literature preparation.

  • Ability to work flexible hours or occasionally on weekends with short notice depending on customer deliverables.

  • Typical office environment with shelves overhead and above work surfaces and RF/Antenna Laboratory environment.

  • Office assignments may be adjacent to the production floor to which Safety Notices are in force.
