Position Overview:

At ARKA Advanced Communications, the Engineering Manager position is multifaceted and as critical to the success of the organization as having great engineers and great teams. Engineering Managers are responsible for fueling teams that deliver value to the organization. Managers will positively impact the performance and productivity of their team. In addition, Managers are responsible for creating an environment and conditions where employees feel motivated to produce the necessary business outcomes.

The Electrical Engineering Manager will lead a team of engineers who are responsible for the development, production, test, and integration of various electrical components for software defined radios, designed for small satellite missions in the both the commercial and government sectors. This role will focus on ensuring technical excellence and innovation in RF, EE, and FPGA applications in radios.

Responsibilities:


  • Lead and mentor the team responsible for the development of design concepts and architectures to support of ARKA's current and future software defined ground and space radios.
  • Enable the autonomy of engineers by communicating and explaining desired outcomes but allowing the engineers to be seen as the experts.
  • Grow your talent by finding opportunities for challenging work. Find projects, pick scope, priorities, and track progress so that your team can grow towards the goals you have helped them identify. Align team objectives with business plans and growth goals.
  • Motivate the engineers by showing appreciation for the work accomplished especially when that work aligns with business goals and engineering values.
  • Communicate technical direction to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Foster a customer-first culture, creating novel solutions to solve tough customer problems.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science or higher in Electrical Engineering or similar
  • At least 5 years of experience in the design and development of high reliability electronics hardware, preferably in an aerospace system environment
  • Development experience with FPGA designs using VHDL or Verilog
  • Familiar performing digital signal processing in embedded systems on FPGA platforms
  • Familiar with digital signal processing (DSP) for things such as filter design and link-level simulation
  • Familiar with Software Defined Radios, Digital Communications, Digital Filtering, and algorithm design
  • Experience with HW/SW/System development lifecycles including: architecture specification, detailed design, validation and field testing

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience managing teams of engineers
  • Experience in RF spectrum engineering, RF system design, development, and implementation for government, military and commercial communications platforms
  • Experience with test programs of electrical components to aerospace requirements
  • Some project management experience and excellent communication/presentation skills
  • Signal processing experience including detailed knowledge of payload, TT&C, commercial satellite communications and tactical waveform applications
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills and ability to interface directly with customers
  • Ability to successfully manage the development of new products and platforms

Pay Range: $140,000 - $180,000

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.
