Summary: This entry level Commercial Development Trainee is responsible for learning a wide variety of activities servicing the Commercial Division of Tyson Foods as a part of the Commercial Development Training Program. The position will complete a rigorous 12-month training program with required travel to multiple sales regions. It is designed to provide candidates with the skills needed to build a successful career in business management and/or professional sales.


The areas of focus will include foodservice sales, grocery sales, sales operations, sales strategy, planning, and beef & pork sales. This position, along with other trainees, will work with many of these areas through rotations and may require the Associate to work various shifts during the training phase in order to learn additional facets of the operations.


In addition to rotations the Sales and Marketing Associate will be required to attend various training programs around sales communication systems and other relevant areas. Examples of areas of focus are include Sales Operations, Sales Strategy and Planning, Revenue Management, Industrial, Military and Export Sales, Marketing, Category Management, Culinary Services, Business Development, Bakery, Specialty Foods, National Sales Accounts, Regional Sales Accounts, Retail Packaged Goods, Grocery, Deli Accounts, and Prepared Foods and Fresh Meats Business units. Some additional areas training could include food preparation, sales negotiating skills, working with R&D, and communicating with external partners.


This position will begin in June 2025.



Essential Job Responsibilities: This position will embed with specific teams throughout the program. During a rotation, they functional as members of those teams. Their daily activities will mimic that team's roles and responsibilities. This may include cross-functional meetings on sales performance, supply chain, product innovation, product cuttings, forecasting calibrations, pricing, service levels, performing store audits, customer visits, customer meetings, sales calls, store resets, performance reporting, website audits, menu ideation, marketing campaigns, analyzing customer menus, reporting, competitive analysis, insights, and other duties as assigned.


This role may involve setting up and promoting Tyson Brands at both public and independent store food shows, food service distribution, and national account customer shows.



Requirements




Education: Requires broad knowledge in a general professional or technical field. Knowledge is normally acquired through four years of college resulting in a Bachelor's degree (graduation within last 5 years) or equivalent. Experience: 1 plus year of experience preferred or combination of experience and relevant education internships.



Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. This position will be responsible for delivering 5-7 presentations throughout the program as well as bi-weekly internal blog.



Special Skills: Ability to analyze data, self-motivated, self-starter, driven thinking and problem-solving skills priority setting and teamwork skills; creativity and innovation; ability to act assertively and take initiative. Desire to make a difference in both the business and culture; passionate to understand and represent the needs of our customers.



Supervisory: NA



Travel: This position will include 12-15 trips per year.



Relocation: Must be willing to relocated to Northwest Arkansas for the duration of the program. Post-program location depends on the role.
