MHBS: Full-Time Educator (Associate Professor of Practice) and Associate Dean Department of Management and Miami Herbert School of Business
Miami Herbert Business School at the University of Miami is inviting applications for an Educator position in the Department of Management starting in January 2025 with an associated administrative role (overseeing career services, industry engagement, experiential learning, and external relationships). The post-holder will report to the Chair of the Department of Management for all aspects related to the Educator Faculty role and to the Dean or his appointee, for all administrative roles.
We are specifically interested candidates who have significant credibility and standing with practitioners/executives and students in the areas of human resource management, career services, innovative curriculum development, and assisting with placement as well as outreach activities. The ideal candidate should have at least ten years experience in the broad aspects of career management from an accredited school of business as well as teaching experience in human resources, negotiation, leadership, to name a few topic areas. We prefer candidates who have published books and/or articles in the field to further cement their credibility. The candidate must hold a PhD or equivalent in areas such as management, curriculum development, leadership, and/or human resource management. Teaching experience as well as student teaching evaluations should be described in the application.
Responsibilities for educator faculty typically include: Instruction of 6 courses (18 credit per academic year), lecturing, leading class discussions and conducting other teaching activities during scheduled classes; creating, administering and grading using appropriate assessment methods; developing innovative curriculum and pedogogy in collaboration with colleagues; holding office hours and providing additional support for students outside the class time periods; calculating and submitting grades for all students; following established expectations and protocols for the department and to staying current in the field. Administrative duties will be determined by the Dean or his designees. Please note, the position is not tenured earning.
