Job Description:

Then come be a part of a great Traffic Engineering team that is shaping the future of Transportation in Nebraska. Our Traffic Engineering position will engage you on projects from maintenance to new construction, while working with a variety of groups from Roadway Design and our Districts. You will gain valuable experience learning how NDOT takes projects from concept to construction and providing safe and reliable transportation systems to the traveling public.
Pay range is $34.857 -$51.383 per hour. The pay rate may be commensurate with education and/or experience within fiscal constraints if approved.
If unable to fill at the Professional Engineer I level, will consider applicants at the Engineer level which requires a bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline. Must obtain Engineer Intern Enrollment (Engineering in Training Certification) within one year of employment. Pay rate for this classification is $30.577 per hour.
Job Duties:
•Design and development of highway signing, pavement marking, workzone traffic control plans, and temporary traffic control plans.
•Calculate and balance summary of quantities for materials used in traffic control.
•Assist Districts in the field with traffic signing and marking requests.
•Design signs for sign orders.
•Review and approve sign and sign structure shop drawings submitted by contractors.
•Respond orally and in writing to questions made by the public, consultants, contractors, and Inter/Intra-agency sources.
•Design interstate, expressway, & highway junction signing plans.
•Participate in annual work zone traffic control review and provide assistance to the districts in the field as needed.
•Prepare work zone crash summary.
•Review work zone accident and fatal accident reports.
•Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements / Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
Engineer: Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline. Must obtain Engineer Intern Enrollment (Engineering in Training Certification) within one year of employment.
Professional Engineer I: Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline. Must possess a Professional Engineer (P.E.) license at the time of application and be licensed by the Nebraska Board of Engineers and Architects at time of employment or be able to obtain such license within 90 days of employment.
