Job Description:

We are currently seeking aFT Human Resources Administrator/Assistant Store Manager for our Port Jefferson Station Store. The candidate chosen for this position must be flexible on work location due to future growth, career pathing and company expansion over time (Nassau/Suffolk area). We currently have 11 stores, with 7 of our gourmet stores located on Long Island.

Our HRA/Assistant Store Managers support respective Store Managers with the implementation of initiatives and achievements of goals and objectives, with a focus on business operations and merchandising. This position will be responsible for day to day in store operations in addition to daily Human Resources functions within the store. This will include working collaboratively with the Store Manager, VP of Human Resources and all other managers, assistant managers and personnel, providing store and employee support, recruiting, employee relations and all other functions as it pertains to HR within a store environment.

Responsibilities
Manage store operations, grocery and gourmet food production, inventory, store staff, schedules, merchandising, customer complaints and all other store operations, working in direct collaboration with the Store ManagerWork with all store departments regarding questions or assistance they need to perform their job betterPerform store walks to ensure that the store shelves are full and inventory is correctly placed out for customer purchase. Ensure that each department has all displayed dishes filled and all hot items are displayed and cleanWork closely with each Department Manager, ensuring that their departments are clean, stocked and staffedAssign duties to staff based on their areas of expertise, to ensure that they make use of their knowledge to render best services in the storeHandle customer complaints and returns in a cordial manner, creating mutual benefits to both the store and customersPrepare workers performance report at the end of every month to evaluate their performances, identifying areas with low performances to work onMaintain good store cleanliness by ensuring that the store is constantly cleaned and sanitized by the appropriate staffCreate a safe atmosphere by implementing safety measures for the protection of workers and customers, and handle emergencies promptlyRespond to internal and external HR related inquiries or requests, providing appropriate assistance.Re-directing HR related calls and distribute correspondence to the appropriate person on the HR team.Maintaining records of personnel-related data (payroll, personal information, leaves, turnover rates etc.) in both paper and the database and ensure all employment requirements are metLiaise with other departments or functions (payroll, benefits etc.)Assisting supervisors and the management team in performance management procedures.Schedule meetings, interviews, HR events etc. and maintain the store teams agendaOther duties and functions as assigned
Skills
Excellent communication skills: assistant store managers need to be able to communicate effectively in writing and in speech to staff and managementGood human relations skills: The assistant store manager relates frequently with people of different background who visit the store for their groceries, and so needs to have a great deal of skills in human relationship to be able to deal with them satisfactorilyAbility to resolve conflict: The assistant store manager should expect to have situations arise in the store which will require an immediate response. Individual should be a quick thinker with the ability to address each issue.Multitasking skills: The Assistant Store Managers job description is multi-faceted and so should be able to work on and complete several tasks at the same time so as to be efficient on the jobManagerial skills: The Assistant Store Managers position needs someone who can manage both people and materials resource for the efficient operation of the storeOrganizational skills: Must be able to create effective organization in the store that will enable the staff to carry out their duties efficiently
Requirements
HS Diploma or equivalentBilingual in English/Spanish is a plusAny experience in human resources and/or relevant human resources/administrative position support role a plusMust be computer literate with high proficiency with MS Office SuiteMust have experience working within databasesAbility to learn ATS software5+ years of experience working in a busy grocery store, with at least 3 of those years working as an Assistant Store ManagerIn depth knowledge of all grocery store department operations including inventory, product rotation, staffing, scheduling and product knowledgeMust be able to speak, read and understand the English languageStrong understanding of safety hazards and prevention with the ability to follow our store standards for preventable hazards, trips and fallsExcellent communication and presentation skills
