Job Description:

 POSITION OVERVIEW

Performs supervisory or skilled work involving two or more trades in the construction, maintenance, airfield operations, and repair of buildings, equipment and facilities. Maintaining the general aviation airports to ensure compliance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and other federal, state, and city regulations.

 

POSITION ACCOUNTIBILITIES

Note: The following duties are illustrative and not exhaustive. Depending on assigned area of responsibility, incumbents in the position may perform one or more of the activities described below.

·       Oversees day to day maintenance activities while working independently. Must be capable of making effective decisions as it relates to maintenance operations.

·       Monitors, prioritizes, participates in, and inspects work activities to ensure compliance with plans, specifications, codes, standards, regulations, operating instructions and safety standards and to ensure operational efficiency and a safe working environment.

·       Answers questions and provides information related to work assignments including resolving problems, handling complaints and providing technical expertise in area of assignment.

·       Performs daily and nightly airfield inspections.

·       Responds to airfield operational concerns to include aircraft emergencies and pavement closures. Must be available during non-standard hours during irregular operations or emergencies.

·       Responds to issues from the airport tenants and the public.

·       Gains a working knowledge of Aviation Authority policies and procedures reporting issues and concerns to airport management.

·       Supervises and participates in the erection of small structures and the more complex alteration, repair and maintenance of plumbing, electric, and water systems and/or fixtures, brick, cement, HVAC, and carpentry work.

·       Requisitions and maintains replacement parts in central stock to permit completion of repairs.

·       Drives a vehicle to and from work sites.

·       Performs other related duties as required.

COMEPNSATION

$26.01 - $27.38

 MINIMUM QUALIFICATION

Graduation from high school or possession of a GED certificate and four years of experience and as a skilled trades worker in two or more of the following areas; airfield operations, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, masonry, painting, or other skilled trade or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience that would reasonably be expected to provide the job-related competencies noted below.

Possession of a valid Driver License required.

·       Ability to analyze situations quickly and objectively and determine a proper course of action in both non-emergency and emergency situations.

·       Considerable knowledge of the construction and maintenance of various types of buildings and facilities.

·       Considerable knowledge of airfield mowing and operation of heavy equipment.

·       Knowledge of safety procedures and safety equipment.

·       Skill in the use of hand and electrical tools and equipment used in building and construction.

·       Ability to read and interpret blueprints and drawings.

·       Ability to use a computer and related software.

·       Ability to prioritize work.

·       Ability to plan, organize and supervise the work of others.

·       Ability to work effectively with others.

·       Ability to perform a variety of physical tasks.
