Your Role:
The Laboratory Technician at the EMD Electronics site in Tamaqua, PA will join the Quality Control group at our facility and will support the analysis of specialty gas products used in the semiconductor fabrication industry. The Laboratory Technician will be responsible for routine trace metals analysis of finished goods and raw materials for existing and new product lines. The Laboratory Technician may be required to assist with safety, health, environmental, and product quality improvements under general guidelines and supervision of the Laboratory Supervisor and Manager. The position may be required to support the 24/7 plant operations and/or special projects. The Lab Technician is responsible for the following:
Provide routine trace metals analytical support for operations, quality and R&D teams
Analyze samples and communicate results to respective business unit
Operate and maintain analytical equipment
Perform preventative maintenance tasks within the laboratory
Operate equipment such as ICP-MS, analytical balance, microwave digestion system, pipettes, and pH meter
Adhere to and support the ISO 9001 Quality Assurance program at the site
Support safety inspections and other safety programs
Maintain lab inventory
Other tasks as assigned by supervisor/manager
Basic Qualifications:
B.S. in Chemistry, Biology or other life science discipline
Preferred Qualifications:
2+ years of hands-on laboratory experience
2+ years of experience with handling hazardous chemicals (toxic, reactive, pyrophoric, corrosive, oxidizer, Fluorine and HF)
Hands on experience with ICP-MS and microwave digestion systems
Experience working in a clean room environment
Experience with data entry into a laboratory data management system
Self-starter with the ability to multitask, work as an individual contributor and as a member of a diverse team, a skilled problem solver, and have a strong passion for continuous improvement and quality
Ability to function independently and efficiently under the guidance of management and have excellent communication skills
Ability to recognize existing problems, foresee potential problems, and implement measures to eliminate or reduce the probability of occurrence and minimize their impact
