Marsh is seeking candidates for our Senior Data Scientist, who will lead the development and implementation of models using advanced techniques in machine learning, predictive modeling, artificial intelligence, and natural language processing as applied in commercial insurance and risk management. This position consults with clients and colleagues on complex financial and statistical analyses, and develops approaches for new, market-leading analytics-based tools.
This is a hybrid position that will required 3 days in our NYC office.

We will count on you to:
Leads the development of modeling approaches for implementing innovative, market-leading analytics-based tools to understand and address risk
Shapes business strategy by understanding business problems and creating approaches to solve them that starts with determining structured and unstructured data needs and availability, building machine learning models alongside more junior data scientists, and finalizes with results that unlock insight for clients and colleagues
Demonstrates expertise in advanced statistical analysis, risk modeling, machine learning, and data analysis, with an understanding of modern development approaches including cloud-based technologies and DevOps best practices.
Mentors and guides more junior data scientists, fostering a collaborative environment and promoting continuous learning and professional development. Engages with ongoing research in the AI/ML field, bringing new approaches to the team
Leads cross-functional projects, driving the strategic vision and execution of initiatives that align with organizational goals and advance the reach of AI and ML within Marsh
Communicates insights and recommendations to senior leaders and stakeholders, influencing the decision-making process and guiding the organization in adopting analytics driven strategies
What you need to have:
Bachelor's Degree in Math, Statistics, Data Science, Actuarial Science or related field
Extensive experience in machine learning, statistical analysis, and predictive modeling, with a proven track record of implementing successful model-driven solutions
Proven ability to face multiple difficult and complex problems in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating strong organizational skills and a structured problem-solving approach
Excellent communication and collaborating skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and create influence within and outside of the job function concerning analytics use and practices
Expertise with Python (including NumPy, TensorFlow, and PyTorch) and SQL
Experience with big data platforms such as Hadoop or Spark and programming languages such as R or VBA may be helpful but not required

Marsh McLennan is committed to hybrid work, which includes the flexibility of working remotely and the collaboration, connections and professional development benefits of working together in the office. All Marsh McLennan colleagues are expected to be in their local office or working onsite with clients at least three days per week. Office-based teams will identify at least one "anchor day" per week on which their full team will be together in person.
The applicable base salary range for this role is $105,900 to $226,000.
The base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, education, and any applicable minimum wage requirements. Decisions will be determined on a case-by-case basis. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.
