Location/Division Specific Information
This role is situated within the Innovation Team/Collaboration Center of the Bioproduction Group in St. Louis, MO. The preferred location is St. Louis, but remote work with significant travel across the US is possible.

Join Thermo Fisher's ambitious team to drive digital transformation and automation in bioproduction. You will work collaboratively to successfully implement world-class AI/ML workflows and automation technologies.
A day in the Life:
• Design, develop, and support AI/ML workflows for data analysis and equipment automation.
• Lead and manage automation projects, ensuring flawless execution.
• Collaborate strictly with global teams to harmonize efforts in digital transformation.


• Design develop and implement equipment integration and automation to demonstrate proof of concept for new ideas to translate to commercialization readily


• Develop and support pre-market evaluations, alpha/beta testing of PAT software, digitalization, and bioprocess automation technologies.
• Implement Process Analytical Technology (PAT) sensors and software in an automated single-use technology bioprocessing R&D laboratory.
• Support automation of batch and continuous bioprocessing operations using PAT


• Support development and implementation of Industry 4.0 digital and software technologies in a bioprocessing environment

Education
• Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or other relevant technical degrees or equivalent experience.
Experience
• Minimum 5 years in engineering/automation, preferably in pharma/biopharma.
• Expertise in AI/ML integration into equipment/workflows.
• Familiarity with industrial data transfer protocols such as OPC, MQTT, and REST.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
• Strong programming skills in JAVA, Python; C++ preferred.
• Experience with automation platforms like Delta V, Allen Bradley, and Siemens.
• Working knowledge of cGMP, 21 CFR Part 11, EU Annex 11, and Data Integrity.
Physical Requirements / Work Environment
• Ability to work in an R&D laboratory setting.
• Capable of significant travel across the US.
