Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) Research Coordinator:


This is a full-time position. The primary responsibilities include organization and management of grant funded work, which includes IRB compliance, participant enrollment, data collection, data management, data analysis, financial record keeping, and other administrative tasks in support of projects and the ABI Research Program. This role highly involves interacting with leadership, clinical and non-clinical staff, research partners, and patients and families to complete data collection, records management, data reporting, and quality assurance. A key focus of this role is effectively and efficiently implementing grant funded protocols. This position requires an understanding of the grant lifecycle of a grant and the importance of collecting accurate, timely, and complete data. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, highly organized, and detail oriented with excellent verbal and written and communication skills.



Job Functions


  • Oversee research project compliance with federal and Shepherd Center IRB regulations

  • Build project databases (e.g., recruitment/tracking, project data storage, data abstraction, financial records)

  • Carryout participant recruitment and enrollment for studies, making sure to reach project goals

  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of electronic data capture by tracking and reporting completion in accordance with operational protocol requirements

  • Conduct data quality checks to identify potential data entry errors and execute the data quality management plan.

  • Generate and distribute data reports to stakeholders

  • Identify and problem-solve data collection barriers

  • Assist in the facilitation of departmental education efforts related to research

  • Combine data from multiple sources to create interim and final datasets.

  • Assist project leadership team in planning, developing, and executing new data-related research or programmatic improvement activities.

  • Serve as a point of contact for data-related activities across a range of projects.

  • Manage payment and tracking of participant stipends and other budget expenditures

  • Assist with literature reviews and manuscript preparation


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience

  • Minimum of 3-4 years of experience with electronic data collection, entry, and or management preferred

  • Familiarity with research methods, specifically data collection and management techniques

  • Advanced organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple assignments

  • Strong communication skills for the gathering, evaluating, and conveying of information

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office required

  • Proficiency in REDCap data entry and database management preferred

  • Proficiency in Epic Electronic Medical Record Software preferred

  • CITI certification and IRBNet experience preferred

This position is funded by a 5-year federal grant that supports the Traumatic Brain Injury Model Systems (TBIMS) program. The mission of the Georgia Model Brain Injury System is to improve the employment, financial, health, and community participation outcomes of individuals with TBI, and particularly for minority and underserved populations. This position involves working closely with the ABI Research Program Manager to coordinate recruitment and data collection for the TBIMS national data registry and coordination for a specific project will validate 2 novel vocational rehabilitation (VR) interventions that are organized between hospital-based and state VR programs. The role will require coordinating with patients and families and staff by phone, email, and in-person for data collection purposes. Data collection will include data abstraction, questionnaires, and brief interviews with participants.



REQUIRED MINIMUM EDUCATION

  • Level I: Bachelor of Science in related field.

  • Level II: Advanced Degree such as master's in public health (MPH)

  • Level III: Advanced Degree


REQUIRED MINIMUM CERTIFICATION

  • Basic Life Support Certification (BLS)


REQUIRED MINIMUM EXPERIENCE

  • Level I: Minimum of two (2) years clinical research experience required.

  • Level II: Three (3) years clinical research experience and advanced degree.

  • Level III: Five (5) years, advanced degree, and specialty certification(s).


REQUIRED MINIMUM SKILLS

  • Completes orientation and initial assessment of competency successfully by determined due date.

  • Completes mandatory education and annual competency assessment requirements by determined due date.

  • Computer Competency including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • Familiarity with data storage and analysis systems helpful.

  • Superior written communication skills.

  • Flexibility to work shift per protocol demands.

  • Basic testing competency (i.e. vital signs, collecting urine/blood specimens, specimen processing and shipping, ECG, etc.) per center policies with appropriate training and/or certifications.

  • Human Subject Protection and Good Clinical Practices (GCP) Training

  • Hazardous Material Shipping Training


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Certified Clinical Research Coordinator (CCRC) preferred.

  • Certified Clinical Research Professional (CCRP) preferred.

  • Research Certification (CCRC or CCRP) preferred


PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Physical ability to perform demands of job including bending, reaching, lifting, walking, and standing. Ability to lift 60 pounds on occasion, stand for up to 4 - 6 hours daily, able to read text from distance and see/discern colors.

  • Occasional travel required.


WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Some potential for exposure to blood, body fluids, investigational drugs, and investigational devices.
