The Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI) at the University of Pittsburgh is recruiting a Clinical Research Assistant. The Research Assistant will work in multiple settings including dedicated enrollment clinics, physician practices, and hospital settings (outpatient/inpatient) and in community partner settings. The incumbent will interact with potential participants along the continuum of study enrollment – including engagement (explaining study basics to a potential participant), recruitment (scheduling and supporting the completion of online informed consent and participant surveys), and collection and
processing of blood and urine samples and documenting all activities. Phlebotomy experience preferred but not required (will teach). The ideal candidate enjoys interacting with diverse communities, is flexible, positive, friendly, and a team player with excellent communication and organizational skills.
Conducts research assessments and procedures. Recruits, screens, and enrolls eligible participants in studies; escorts participants to research scanning sites. Updates databases for registry assessments and clinical trial forms.
Ability to operate a PC and communicate effectively verbally and in written form with people from diverse backgrounds. Telephone skills, computer and keyboard skills, strong written and verbal communication skills, and strong organizational skills. Ability to be flexible in location assignments. Ability to participate in face-to-face or virtual meetings. Ability to connect with people from diverse backgrounds.
The position will require standing or sitting for work with reasonable mobility to navigate location site and clinical exam space. Sight and manual dexterity are required to handle and process biological specimens. Ability to move throughout campus to attend face-to-face meetings and or participate in virtual meetings or lift reports weighting approximately 15lbs.
