Role description:

Arcadis is currently seeking a Junior Management Consultant to join our world-class Business Advisory practice in Atlanta, GA, Indianopolis, IN, Minneapolis, MN or Louisville, KY.

We are looking for a new team member to join our Strategy & Transformation team who want to apply technical know-how, combined with business principles, to the water, wastewater, and stormwater industry. We want dedicated, creative, and energetic candidates interested in tackling challenges and developing sustainable, data-driven solutions to address water issues like renewal and replacement of aging infrastructure, funding of capital improvements, water supply, workforce retention and development, and emergency preparedness. Collaborating with our experienced consulting professionals, you will support and contribute to project outcomes; interact, and work with clients, and develop your technical capabilities. Work in this practice includes strategic planning, organization assessments and redesigns, change management, workforce development, and innovation management.

Role accountabilities:

As an Entry Level Management Consultant you will assess, develop, and support public sector organizations in developing and implementing strategies to improve their performance, transform their culture and people, and ready them for the future. You will support other consultant in the development and execution of strategic planning, organizational assessment, workforce development, and change management projects using industry standards and best practices. Collecting, analyzing, and organizing large datasets using various tools, software, and sources to identify trends, patterns, and correlations within the data to provide valuable insights will be a key part of your role. To exceed in this position, you will research best practices and conduct benchmarking exercises.

Utilization of strong analytical skills and having the ability to apply logic to solve problems and tell a cohesive story is important in this role. You will collaborate with teams and stakeholders to understand and document requirements and deliver solutions including reports and compelling visualizations for a wide variety of audiences. Assisting in technical writing will be common, which may include preparation of technical reports, business development support, presentations, and other audiovisual materials. You will work both independently, as well as part of a team with the flexibility to accommodate collaboration with team members across the U.S. and internationally. Managing multiple concurrent projects with multiple deadlines and ensuring completion per project budgets and timelines will be especially important in your role.

The ideal candidate for this position is reliable, client-focused, and capable of working independently under the supervision of project managers. They should possess exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, strong attention to detail, strong verbal and written communication skills, and a solid work ethic with high emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills. The candidate must be self-motivated and team-oriented, able to work successfully both independently and within a team. They should demonstrate the ability to balance and address new challenges as they arise, with an eagerness to take ownership of tasks.

Additionally, the candidate should have knowledge of engineering concepts, theories, and practices related to water, wastewater, and stormwater systems. A drive to succeed and grow a career in the utility industry is essential.

Qualifications & Experience:

Required Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering, Public Administration or Policy, Business or closely related STEM discipline.
  • For those with engineering degrees, ability to obtain the EIT within six months of start date

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master of Science degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering, or Business Analytics/MBA, related business discipline.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and visualization tools such as Microsoft Excel and Power BI as well as business process mapping tools (e.g., MS Visio).
  • Experience with performance improvement methodologies such as Lean Six Sigma and/or change management.
  • Previous relevant consulting or utility experience, either internship or full-time.

Arcadis offers benefits for full time and part time positions. We offer nine paid holidays and 15 days PTO that accrue per year. The salary range for this position is $46,800 - $83,850. Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
