Job Description:

What You'll Do:


  • Prepare daily dispatch schedule for drivers and equipment and dispatch a fleet of 15 to 20 vehicles per day. May also seek out and schedule backhauls and provide inbound report receiving.
  • Build and update inbound and outbound orders in dispatch program.
  • Respond promptly to driver inquiries regarding, but not limited to, breakdowns, directions, product count discrepancies and monitor drivers' hours to prevent DOT violations.
  • Adjust delivery and backhaul assignments to accommodate breakdowns, late trucks and other changes.
  • Work schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:30 am to 4:30 pm.

What Experience and Education You Need:

  • At least one year of related work experience dispatching commercial vehicles, preferably Tractor Trailers.
  • Basic knowledge of Department of Transportation (DOT) hours of service regulations.
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel, Outlook and Word and McLeod Transportation Management Software highly preferred.
  • Experience in a supervisory or team management role.
  • Experience handling high-volume phone calls, multi-tasking, and the ability to effectively communicate with a wide variety of individuals.

  • Ability to pay close attention to detail.

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires the ability to sit for long periods of time, with frequent interruptions.
  • Requires several hours per day of sitting, getting up and down from chairs, and reaching, or bending.
  • Requires manual dexterity with normal hand and finger movements for typical office work.
  • Talking, hearing, and seeing are important elements of completing assigned tasks.
  • May require travel by automobile and airplane up for business.
  • May require a visit to facility operations in temperatures at or below freezing.
  • May carry loads related to travel and occasionally lifts, carries, positions, or moves objects weighing up to 20 pounds.
  • Requires the use of various electronic tools.
  • Requires the ability to relate to others beyond giving and receiving instructions: must partner with colleagues without exhibiting behavioral extremes.
  • Requires the performance of work activities including reasoning, negotiating, instructing, persuading, or speaking with others; and respond appropriately to constructive feedback from executive management.
