Job Summary

Ensures that gas volumes and related cost and revenue transactions of the Company's operations are accurately recorded, analyzed and reported in a timely, cost-effective manner and in compliance with regulatory, state and federal requirements. Develops reports, in compliance with standard reporting requirements, for internal and external parties.

Essential Functions

  • Manages the accurate recording of actual revenues and costs, managing the settlement of supply and delivery transactions. This includes overseeing the resolution of discrepancies in transport counterparty and customer reconciliation processes and ensuring that invoice settlement amounts are correctly aligned with contractual agreements.
  • Guides the review and verification of gas supply and transportation invoices to ensure accuracy and aid in resolving discrepancies in the payment of vendor invoices.
  • Supervises the comparison of scheduled pipeline volumes with monthly transportation statements to ensure accuracy and coordinates between Scheduling and Trading to identify and resolve discrepancies.
  • Manages the balancing of month-end data by pipeline to ensure precise recording of revenue and expenses. Facilitates the explanation of estimate-to-actual reconciliations concerning monthly natural gas activities to the appropriate departments.
  • Leads the collection of customer usage of files from various pipelines and utilities, overseeing the loading, review, and processing of volumes to ensure accurate invoicing and revenue recording in financial systems.
  • Reviews and verifies monthly storage statements to ensure correct documentation of storage volumes, analysing associated pricing to ensure accurate cost recording and deferrals in monthly statements.
  • Oversees reconciliation processes to identify volume and pricing issues, collaborating closely with Trading, Scheduling, and Actualization teams to resolve discrepancies.
  • Manages the provision of financial and statistical information or supporting documentation to ensure compliance with SOX requirements.
  • Analyses data and oversees the collection and cross-referencing of supporting documentation to prepare and review accounts receivable and payable schedules, reports, and variance analyses, while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Directs the creation and maintenance of various system files for business units, ensuring system integrity and conducting audits for data accuracy.
  • Coordinates the provision of financial and statistical information, preparing reports for internal and external auditors, governmental agencies, and other stakeholders as needed.
  • Participates in and leads project teams focused on the design, development, testing, and implementation of automated systems, process reengineering, and new requirements.
  • Cultivates and maintains strong customer relationships by ensuring timely service and support for both internal and external customers daily, effectively addressing and resolving escalated issues as they arise.
  • Manages and mentors’ analysts, providing direction, training, and coaching to enhance their technical and soft skills and ensure optimal operational efficiency.
  • Ensures alignment and collaboration among reports to achieve organizational objectives.

Qualifications

  • Education
    1. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in economics, accounting, finance, or general business.
    2. Requires a minimum of seven (7) years of full-time experience in gas accounting, revenue accounting or related gas industry experience or other business-related disciplines.

  • Experience, additional knowledge, skills, and personal characteristics
  • Strong proficiency in full suite of Microsoft Office applications with an emphasis on Excel and the ability to write, improve, and repair complex formulas and workbooks.
  • Experience with Openlink Endur ETRM, Salesforce, and Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central highly preferred.
  • Able to perform all aspects of work with a high degree of effectiveness, efficiency, and accuracy to meet or exceed customer expectations.
  • Able to demonstrate and apply a strong technical knowledge of accounting theory and principles and apply effectively.
  • Able to acquire and apply knowledge of requirements necessary to comply with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act.
  • Able to demonstrate and apply proficiency in performing financial and statistical computations.
  • Able to demonstrate and apply effective written and oral communication proficiency with a wide range of audiences.
  • Able to excel in conceptualizing and assimilating data quickly to make timely and accurate decisions and take appropriate action.
  • Able to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Able to take a leadership role in a project team to establish plans, coordinate team activities, and assure successful completion of objectives.

  • Other Requirements
    1. Able to work in fast-paced office environment with a high-volume workload and frequent, short deadlines that may require more than a 40-hour work week to meet established deadlines including working nights or weekends, as required.
    2. Able to work indoors, in an office environment, regardless of whether open office, cubicle or private office.
    3. Able to travel occasionally, possibly overnight.
