Chemical Engineer Position Summary


The Chemical Engineer provides support to the manufacturing floor regarding chemical process development, chemical maintenance, process validation, and validation of new equipment.

Responsibilities




Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design and develop new chemical cleaning, passivation and electropolishing processes
  • Support the maintenance of all chemical baths and equipment throughout the manufacturing facility
  • Collect data required to monitor process performance and make improvements and/or modifications
  • Recommend and specify new equipment/processes as needed for chemical processing, water treatment, and chemical waste disposal equipment
  • Assess safety and environmental issues through committee participation and audits
  • Ensure safe working conditions and compliance with environmental and safety regulations
  • Train and develop personnel on correct methods and practices of handling, maintaining, and the disposal of the shop chemicals
  • Maintain chemical-related instruments
  • Write technical reports or prepare graphs and charts to document experimental results
  • Perform customer, equipment, and process validations
  • Perform and/or support process validations as required with an IQ/OQ/PQ approach
  • Maintain and update the facility master validation plan
  • Develop work instructions
  • Create documentation for fixture design
  • Understand customer needs and the core business markets we serve
  • Ensure business systems are implemented, maintained, and functioning properly




Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering or an Engineering discipline
  • 1 year of industry experience
  • Knowledge of cleaning, passivation, and electropolishing processes, electrochemistry, ICP
  • Knowledge of testing such as FTIR, salt spray, humidity
  • Knowledgeable in state waste treatment regulations and NADCAP
  • Ability in the preparation of chemical solutions, standards, and the use of common laboratory and chemical processing equipment
  • Experience with acids and alkaline
  • Experience with validation design and execution with the IQ/OQ/PQ approach
  • Knowledgeable with fixture design
  • Blueprint reading capabilities with knowledge of GD&T
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment around chemicals, fumes, dust, and odors
  • Microsoft Office proficiency (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher)
  • Clear and effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Organizational skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask


Manufacturing Engineer II Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities



  • Expereince with manufacturing ERP systems
  • 1 Year of experiene in a manufacturing environment
