Job Details:



JOB TITLE: PACKER


I. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB
The essential functions of this position include, but are not limited to:


Must pack required number of pieces per minute (depending on product being packed). New hires or transfers gradually increase packing speed Packers reach up and out approximately 12 inches for trays 3-6 pounds . Inspects product and removes bones, skin, and cartilage. Occasionally uses hands to pull off fat and gristle off the product. Must be able to work in damp/cool conditions. All other duties as assigned by management.


II. MUSCULAR/SKELETAL REQUIREMENTS OF THE JOB


Must be able to get to and from their workstations. Packers are expected to perform repetitive motions involving gripping, cutting and packing at a rapid pace of work. Must be able to stand the duration of shift approximately an average of 8 hours. Bending, twisting and turning body from side to side to see and keep up with product. Must have good hand/eye coordination. Must be able to lift 6-10 pounds repetitively throughout shift.


III. TYPES OF EQUIPMENT REQUIRED TO OPERATE FOR THE POSITION


Gloves and slip resistant footwear. Must wear PPE ear protection (plugs or muffs), hair bonnet and beard guard.


This position is responsible for entry level non-skilled general labor while maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to Tyson policies and procedures.
