RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Supervise the accounting department, including a Controller and staff, ensuring smooth operations.

  • Streamline and automate financial processes for efficiency.

  • Review financial results and provide strategic insights.

  • Prepare accurate data for tax returns and ensure seamless coordination with CPAs.

  • Oversee financial reporting for all commercial properties.

  • Participate in financing, acquisitions, and dispositions, offering financial insights.

  • Enhance revenue streams and control costs.

  • Ensure compliance with loan agreements.

  • Work with property managers on revenue and operations reporting.

  • Approve and accurately record payroll.

  • Lead the adoption of financial technologies.

  • Develop and mentor the accounting team.

  • Collaborate on long-term financial strategies.

  • Identify tax issues and oversee tax preparation.

  • Act as the main contact for external tax, legal, and family office professionals.

  • Oversee capital calls and distributions.

  • Support and review investment accounting and reporting.

  • Coordinate budget preparation, CAM reconciliations, and rent escalations.

  • Develop and enforce strong internal controls.

  • Ensure compliance with real estate regulations.

  • Promote effective interdepartmental communication.



REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Extensive experience in accounting for retail/shopping center property management

  • Proficiency with Yardi software

  • Proven leadership experience in supervising a team

  • BA in Accounting or Finance

  • Active CA CPA license (will consider inactive)



PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Knowledge of tax regulations

  • Experience with 1031 exchanges

  • Background in public accounting

  • Investment management, family office, and charitable foundations experience



Compensation: $150K - $200K base
