We are currently seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Collections Specialist to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will help ensure timely payments from our clients while maintaining strong customer relationships.
Key Responsibilities:
Contact customers regarding overdue accounts and payments.
Negotiate payment plans and settlements in line with company policies.
Monitor accounts receivable and track payment progress.
Maintain accurate records of all communications and transactions with customers.
Investigate and resolve discrepancies or issues with customer accounts.
Collaborate with internal departments, including sales and customer service, to resolve billing issues.
Prepare and submit regular reports on the status of delinquent accounts and collections efforts.
Process payments and apply them to customer accounts.
Escalate collection issues when necessary to management or legal teams.
Stay informed on industry standards and legal guidelines related to collections.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or related field preferred.
1-2 years of experience in collections, accounts receivable, or a related field.
Familiarity with billing and collection processes.
Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word).
Strong negotiation and problem-solving skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to manage a large volume of calls and maintain a calm, professional demeanor under pressure.
Knowledge of federal and state debt collection laws (e.g., FDCPA) is a plus.
