Job Description:

The Enviromental Scientist II conducts research and analysis to understand and address environmental issues, such as pollution, climate change, and natural resource conservation. They collect and interpret data, develop plans to mitigate environmental problems, and ensure compliance with regulations. Their work often involves collaborating with government agencies, industries, and communities to promote sustainable practices and protect ecosystems.

• Lead the development of work plans and reports for the purpose of sampling, analyzing, and reporting concentrations of various contaminants and/or geochemical indicators in different media (including air, groundwater, surface water, the marine environment, sediments, and soil).
• Plan and participate in the execution of remedial investigations and monitoring efforts across Alaska.
• Supervise the development, production, and delivery of technical documents to meet strict project schedules and in accordance with applicable standards for quality.
• Prepare progress reporting documents including weekly and/or monthly status reports, and others.
• Collaborate with a diverse team of subject matter experts to support and execute environmental projects for various federal and commercial clients.
• Ensure appropriate regulatory compliance of assigned projects.
• Engage project stakeholders in decision making process.
• Knowledge of applicable federal, state, local and DoD laws, regulations, and guidance.

Required Skills:

Must have a good management and leadership background in either Federal contracts and/or public/ private work infrastructure with good interpersonal communications skills. Should possess self-confidence and the ability to reason and solve problems. Must be computer proficient in all areas of Microsoft Office software (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) General office demands. Must be in good physical condition and be able to travel as required. Must have the ability to maintain assigned work hours. Must have sufficient endurance to perform tasks over long periods.

Required Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, natural science, geology or related, AND 10 years of professional experience.
• AK experience required.
• OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER/Refresher and ADEC-Qualified Environmental Professional required.
• Microsoft Excel and Word proficiency required.
