The Control Administrator is a key role within the Alternative Investments (REIT) Team within the Special Issuance Group at Computershare. Under general supervision, supports the management team as the subject matter expert on complex client and custodial initiated requests, a subject matter expert for the team regarding processing, procedure, and the day to day, interprets and provides guidance on legal requirements and processes and/or reviews general, sensitive, and complex transactions including the appropriate actions for deficient items.

Additionally, responsible for the pre/post "control functions" of the dividend process for Alternative Investments clients, assisting in review of account coding, calculation validation, reconcilement and custodian output validation. As Alternative Investments clients are onboarded, responsible to ensure that Financial Advisor, Financial Institution and custodial entities are set-up within the system in accordance with established protocols. Responsible for the DTCC AIP file transmissions and associated review, file enhancement testing and validation. Also, includes assisting in the analysis of business and user needs, documenting requirements and recommending system deficiencies.


What will you bring to the role?


The Alternative Investments - Control Administrator is responsible for professional interaction with internal CPU partners such as SIG team members, Relationship Managers and Plan Administrators as well as external partners such as Custodian/Brokers and the Depositary Trust Company (DTCC). Provide support to the Control Administrator associates with escalations, projects, etc. Liaise with Custodians to maintain strong relationship with custodian community. Participate on industry business strategy planning.


Primary Accountabilities:

  • Deficient/Not In Good Order ("NIGO") transactions: review of deficient items and communication (email and verbal) with custodians to cure deficient/NIGO items
  • AIP file review/acceptance daily and the testing and validation of AIP functionality ongoing.
  • Research of custodian reconciliation breaks. Involves the review, research and resolution of transfer transactions received from custodians and payments made to custodians made on behalf of accounts that are under their control. After the completion of the research, the resolution to resolve the break/out of balance should be completed.
  • Dividend recon process (monthly and quarterly dividend payers): validation of tax treatment, payment election (cash/DRP) and withholding for shareholder accounts prior to the dividend run. Post dividend: validation of calculation, all custodian payments (wire/check), output, AIP file data/reconciliation.
  • Validation of new client data and custodian account set-up after the onboarding process, including Workflow and custodian database set-up and ongoing maintenance.
  • Special projects to support the business, owning the project from start to finish.
  • Other duties or tasks as assigned by management.

Education, Experience, and Skills Required:

  • 3 - 5 years of Transfer Agent experience
  • Intermediate level knowledge/use of Microsoft Excel required
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, client-facing and internal
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to read, interprets legal documents, and comprehends complex instructions, short correspondence, and memos
  • Ability to accurately write correspondence and type registrations and addresses
  • Some college; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience reviewing transactions for requirements and execution of transactions
  • Reconciliation of data and spreadsheet experience
  • Project completion

Compensation. The typical base pay range for this role is $20-$30/hr. This base pay range is specific to these locations and may not be applicable to other locations
