Position Overview
The Point-of-Care (POC) business develops and sustains systems for in vitro diagnostic (IVD) instruments for point of care and laboratory medical testing. This position is part of the Critical Care clinical setting within the POC business line and reports to the Head of R&D, Critical Care. The Life Cycle Management R&D Lead (Bench Top Blood Gas) is responsible for leading the cross-functional efforts related to sustaining engineering and life cycle management activities of the bench top blood gas product line and is based out of the POC headquarters in Walpole, MA.
Key Responsibilities
Lead global cross-functional commercial product support teams responsible for delivering platform enhancements, implementing cost reduction programs, driving corrective actions in response to field issues, responding to new regulatory requirements, and addressing obsolescence or manufacturing quality issues
Establish global cross-functional solution teams based upon business needs
Lead one or more cross-functional (chemistry, electrical, mechanical, software, systems) agile scrum or Kanban teams
Accountable for the overall delivery of life cycle management (LCM) projects and investigations to the established budget.
Drive cross-functional technical and business decisions
Clearly and concisely communicate project status and escalate unresolved team impediments
Engage new product development teams to share learnings and coordinate the transition to commercial support
Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience
BS/MS in Engineering or Science with a minimum of 10+ years' work experience in a combination of technical product development, sustaining engineering, or manufacturing roles
Strong Project Management skills
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Operate flexibly in an environment with competing priorities
Exhibit a bias toward action, balanced by strong analytical decision-making skills
Able to lead and influence development or problem-solving teams
Strong sense of ownership and accountability
Integrity, professionalism, and overall commitment to excellence
Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience
5+ years' experience in the medical device industry or other regulated industry preferred
Knowledge of agile, lean and/or six sigma processes preferred
