RESPONSIBILITIES:

Kforce has a client that is seeking a Copy Editor in San Francisco, CA.

Summary:
Copy editing usually takes place after substantive editing and before a manuscript is typeset. Copy editors may work in any industry, but they should be familiar with grammar rules and conventions, style guides, and be able to meet deadlines. A copy editor, also known as a proofreader, reviews written content to ensure it's clear, readable, and error-free.

Responsibilities include:

• Proofreading: Checking for spelling, punctuation, and grammar errors


• Editing: Identifying and fixing inconsistencies in tone and style, awkward syntax, and poor word choice


• Collaborating: Working with writers, editors, and publishers to communicate and improve content

REQUIREMENTS:

• This position requires at least mid-level experience if not senior (targeting anywhere from 5 to 10+ years of overall experience in copy editing and proofreading)


• Hands-on experience with Chicago style and in-house company style guides


• Experience in Magazine, Newspaper, or Digital Print Domains


• Attention to detail, Computer proficiency, and writing and research skills


• Proven ability to operate in a fast-paced environment, champion ideas and initiatives, and maintain a proactive mindset

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
