RESPONSIBILITIES:

Kforce is immediately seeking an experienced Scala Engineer in support of our enterprise telecommunications and mass media client based in Greenwood Village, CO. We are looking for a candidate with a strong foundation in Scala who is transitioning to a data background rather than a PySpark Data Engineer who is new to Scala or streaming concepts.

Responsibilities:

• Design and build scalable data pipelines to ingest, transform, and deliver company data to internal and external stakeholders, including multiple reporting teams and external media partners


• Develop and maintain data pipelines for real-time and batch processing (hourly)


• Implement new data exports and update business logic for various data feeds


• Contribute to the development of billion-scale streaming data pipeline infrastructure


• Ensure data quality and integrity throughout the ingestion and processing lifecycle

REQUIREMENTS:

• 3+ years of experience coding in Scala with a strong foundation in functional programming concepts


• Experience with Apache Spark Structured Streaming (in Scala), with a focus on migrating existing projects and building new features using Spark


• Experience with Apache Kafka for real-time message queuing, with an understanding of Consumer and Producer offset management and at-least-once & at-most-once semantics


• Familiarity with container orchestration concepts, preferably Kubernetes


• Basic understanding of AWS cloud technologies -- S3, Athena, Lambda, IAM, EMR


• Comfortable using SQL for data exploration


• Experience supporting large-scale data feeds


• Experience building infrastructure with Terraform is nice to have

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
