Description:
Oversees one or more cross-functional projects of moderate to high complexity from start to finish. Effectively communicates and collaborates within a matrix organizational structure. Capable of learning and adhering to company processes and industry/regulatory standards to ensure project artifacts and deliverables meet company standards. Leads assigned business projects as directed by the IT PMO with minimal supervision.


The Project Manager III collaborates with the project team to execute and complete initiatives aimed at improving company operations and/or meeting regulatory requirements. While expertise in specific project fields is not mandatory, the Project Manager is expected to proactively understand business priorities and the underlying project rationale to manage and contribute effectively to the project's success. Responsible for organizing and facilitating status updates, presentations, project schedules, financial reporting, and risk management, as well as ensuring proper documentation of project resources, requirements, decision-making, and deliverables. Some projects will be large-scale and companywide, requiring appropriate levels of communication and task coordination to ensure quality delivery. Understands the triple constraints of a project and how to manage project scope, cost, and schedule.


Experience Required:


  • 5-7 years managing cross-functional business initiatives and/or projects.

  • Managing a multi-disciplinary team across functional work streams.

  • Proven experience managing implementation projects with shared responsibilities across multiple system integrators.

  • Proven experience in learning business requirements (e.g., business priorities, opportunities, risks, policy/regulatory requirements) and tailoring approaches to ensure project success.

Essential Job Duties/Responsibilities:


  • Partner with business partners to uphold project scope and objectives.

  • Use Project Management best practices to guide projects with stakeholders and/or business.

  • Deliver projects on budget with desired outcomes, utilizing skills to forecast financials and communicate variances to sponsors and required management.

  • Articulate problems, bring the right people together to solve them, and know when issues are resolved, all with the appropriate sense of urgency.

  • Conduct weekly status reviews with the project team and obtain updates for weekly status reporting and PowerPoint presentations, including updates on timeline, project health indicators, accomplishments, and upcoming items.

  • Maintain project governance with regular status meetings, reports, stand-ups, and review sessions to keep the team organized and moving toward successful project closure.

  • Screen projects for risks, actions, issues, decisions, financial viability, and opportunities for sustainable improvement. Understand end-to-end and cross-functional impacts, formulate, and implement solutions.

  • Work with multiple vendors, ensuring vendor PM aligns with company deliverables, SOW, invoicing, and timeline.

  • Collaborate with Analysts and IT PMs to perform validation and liaise with project leadership about budget, forecast, accruals, and reclassifications.

  • Update project forecasts, submit accruals and reclassifications to maintain project financial standards with input from project leadership.

  • Monitor project scopes and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility with the delivery lead.

  • Develop detailed project plans/schedules to track progress.

  • Use appropriate verification techniques to manage changes in project scope, schedule, and costs.

  • Manage relationships with clients and all stakeholders.

  • Perform risk management to minimize project risks.

  • Establish and maintain relationships with third parties/vendors.

  • Create, maintain, and store project documentation and records.

  • Define, teach, and enforce good project management practices with the project team.

  • Communicate frequently and consistently to keep teams aligned and progressing, respecting and upholding team dignity throughout the project.

  • Encourage and support escalations, communicating project milestones, status updates, and any existing or potential escalation issues. Follow escalation and change control processes proactively.

  • Promote good working relationships across the project, cultivating trust and communication among all stakeholders. Execute proper communication and coordination of cross-functional project teams to ensure seamless delivery.

  • Engage in building consensus, developing contingency plans, and providing recommended solutions.

  • Lead project teams in strategic meetings and follow up with meeting minutes.

  • Excellent organizational skills.

  • Ability to follow company governance and utilize required formatting for PowerPoint presentations.

Preferred Experience:


  • Energy experience is a plus.

  • Experience in business-facing engagements.

  • Intermediate to advanced skills with Microsoft Project.

  • Ability to identify and document issues, risks, and problems.

Supervisory/Managerial Responsibilities:
