Job Summary
The Director of Life Enrichment is responsible for executing and maintaining ongoing programs of life enrichment activities to meet, in accordance with a comprehensive assessment, the interests, and the physical, mental and psychosocial well-being of each resident.

Essential Job Functions

Craft vibrant and diverse activities tailored to residents' needs, spanning group social events, indoor/outdoor activities like daily strolls, off-site ventures, spiritual programs, and involving residents in planning.
Infuse creativity through engaging arts, crafts, music, drama, and educational sessions, coupled with invigorating exercise activities and personalized attention.
Introduce exciting new programs and community outings, gauging their impact and adapting for maximum enjoyment.
Innovate continuously to keep the activities program dynamic, offering a variety of fresh, unique initiatives.
Ensure a dedicated thirty (30) minutes of staff time per resident weekly for enriching activity sessions.
Curate a monthly large-print calendar, prominently displayed for residents and visitors, outlining engaging activities.
Maintain an inviting and organized activity space, encouraging participation and joy.
Collaborate seamlessly with other facility services, fostering a harmonious activity experience.
Recruit, train, and supervise enthusiastic volunteers when suitable.
Assess resident needs, setting personalized activity goals within their care plans.
Lead vibrant Resident Council meetings, fostering engagement and collaboration.
Cultivate resident enthusiasm for activities, meticulously documenting their involvement and experiences.
Regularly review and update goals and progress notes, ensuring a dynamic and responsive program.
Accurately document MDS reports and progress, ensuring comprehensive record-keeping.


Knowledge of:

Safety rules, policies and procedures, infection prevention and control procedures.
Facility emergency/disaster response and evacuation procedures.
Resident Rights and identifying abuse and/or neglect.

Skill in:

Use and care of equipment, tools and materials used in resident care activities.
Working independently to complete daily activities according to work schedule.
Following and maintaining safety standards.
Following and effectively communicating verbal and written instructions.
Operating a computer utilizing a variety of commonly used and specialized software applications.

Ability to:

Establish and maintain effective working relationships with associate personnel, residents and resident family members.
Coordinate and conduct meetings.
Set and achieve goals and meet deadlines.
Train and motivate others.
Read and write clearly.
Maintain confidentiality and work under pressure in a dynamic environment with changing demands and priorities.
Comply with facility policies and procedures.

Working Conditions

Must be able to bear weight of 100 pounds or more.
Requires constant physical activities including standing, walking, lifting, bending, stooping, pulling, stretching, turning, grasping, squatting, kneeling and reaching.
Sharp eyesight to ensure precise and thorough completion of assigned tasks.
Keen listening skills to absorb detailed information conveyed orally, especially from individuals with speech impairments.
Safety-sensitive position pursuant to A.R.S. 23-493.


Required Education, Skills and Training

High school diploma or its equivalent
Satisfactory completion of a training course for activity director approved by the Department of Health and Human Services or a qualified therapeutic recreation specialist or an activities professional certified by a recognized accrediting body or a qualified occupational therapist or occupational therapy assistant.
Two (2) years of experience in a social or recreational program approved by the Department of Health and Human Services within the last five years, one of which was full time in a resident activities program in a health care setting.


Special Requirements

Obtain/maintain Arizona Department of Public Safety Fingerprint Card at employee's expense.
Obtain/maintain CPR Certification.
Complete annual Tuberculosis Testing.
Complete required 12 hours of annual in-service training.
