Job Description:

Lead the plant research and development (R&D) efforts and the implementation of new products into full production. Coordinate troubleshooting product processes and formulas and aid in writing standard work instructions. Perform all jobs safely, efficiently and accurately to maintain and improve the performance of the entire plant in the areas of Safety, Quality, Reliability (SQR) and our Customer 1st strategy. Provide leadership that embodies our 7 Kroger Manufacturing High Performance Work System principles. - AIB Baking Science trained
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Ability to research new product/equipment and present recommendations
- Ability to use scientific method to design experiments
- Knowledge of Vertical-start-up
- Knowledge of sanitary design of equipment

Desired
- Bachelor's Degree food science, chemistry or related field
- In-store baking experience
- Scratch baking- Work with Corporate Food Technology on product audits, raw material selection and during product development
- Support setting product specifications and product identity
- Oversee the coordination of formula changes
- Handle creating and shipping samples to General Office and Kroger divisions
- Stop and fix abnormalities in production
- Be a technical subject matter expert for your area of expertise for the enterprise
- Provide adequate research and development resources for teams to run tests
- Develop and implement the use of Enterprise Value Steam Maps to drive strategic improvements
- Sponsor/coach continuous improvement teams
- Identify new product concepts and processes and stay current on industry trends
- Assist in identifying equipment needs and vertical start up
- Resolve packaging design needs at the plant level
- Aid production in process flow improvements
- Follow established programs, policies and practices to produce safe quality foods that meet regulatory and company requirements
- Support the development, implementation, maintenance, and ongoing improvement of the SQF 2000 Systems
- Accountable to the Kroger Manufacturing Food Safety and Quality Principles
- Must be able to work around ingredients and/or finished products known to contain food allergens
- Must be able to perform the essential job functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation
