Job Description:

The MPD Center of Excellence (COE) provides primarily MPD products throughout the Weatherford organization, which includes not only the manufacturing of these products, but also the ongoing maintenance and repairs of the products as well as global fulfillment of operational spare parts. The Plant Manager is responsible for all aspects operating the COE facility, including providing overall direction, planning, scheduling, coordination, and execution with regards to Safety, Quality and Cost with all direct and support employees at the facility. The Plant Manager will also be responsible for achieving the assigned Key Performance Indicators and objectives defined in a timely manner to satisfy operational demands and business needs. This will be accomplished through consistent implementation and daily execution of the Company's global standards ensuring compliance throughout the manufacturing and R&M processes. The successful candidate will have a strong background in manufacturing and/or repair operations as well as in Lean Manufacturing implementation and execution, supply chain, quality assurance, inventory control and systems. In addition, the Plant Manager will report to the Sr Director- MPD COE and will manage a team of approximately 6- 8 direct reports, including but not limited to dotted line functions of Finance, HSSE, and Quality.

Roles & Responsibilities

QUALITY

  • Responsible for being familiar with the Company's Quality policies and takes an active role in the compliance and improvement of Weatherford's Management System
  • Maintains service quality as immediate priorities when working across all areas of the business and continually seeks areas for improvement
OPERATIONS
  • Effectively manage cross functional manufacturing teams to support effective use of manpower, materials, and equipment, as well as productivity and quality improvement initiatives and to deliver on-time delivery (OTD) daily to the business needs
  • Responsible for implementing the strategy and long-term planning of the facility's operations to ensure continued success in meeting customer expectations
  • Interface with Company engineers, strategic sourcing, project management, human resources, logistics, customer service, and accounting personnel regarding facility issues, process optimization, methods development, personnel development, outside supplier development, strategic project implementation, quotes and order management, and for analyzing and preparing monthly financial reporting presentations
  • Oversee planning and scheduling of production and authorize all necessary resources to meet OTD expectations within the facility's budget
  • Develop and implement improvements to productivity, cost management and inventory management, including evaluating and maintaining appropriate levels of parts responsible for OTD
  • Ensure proper use, care and preventative maintenance for all workshop equipment providing optimal working condition and utilization to maximize personnel productivity minimizing repair cost and downtime impeding OTD
  • Responsible for the collaboration, implementation and execution of continuous improvement activities utilizing Lean Manufacturing concepts such as Daily Management, Kaizen, Tact Time/Cycle Time analysis, Value Stream Mapping, Waste Elimination, Gemba Walks, Visual Management and other relevant Lean tactics to drive plant performance success
  • Develop processes and systems and implement across functional teams to drive improvements to Plant KPI's such as productivity, job cost variance, purchase price variance, gross expense reduction, OTD, general cost reduction and inventory management, including evaluating and maintaining appropriate levels of inventory while responsible for on-time shipment
  • Support the implementation and sustaining efforts to promote and execute new techniques and products, purchase and use of new machinery or equipment and optimize staff levels
  • Perform various other duties and activities as assigned by supervisor within the physical constraints of the job
COMMUNICATION
  • Maintains effective communications with all key stakeholders both internal and where appropriate external
  • Supervisors & Managers should clearly communicate expectations, roles and responsibilities to their reports
  • Embrace the global manufacturing culture and actively engage and collaborate with peers across the globe for collaboration on work standards, process standards, methodologies, vendor alignment, cost savings opportunities, development of redundant capabilities where relevant, and in general conduct open communication for the purposes of continual improvement
PEOPLE & DEVELOPMENT

Experience & Education

REQUIRED
  • Bachelor's degree or experience equivalent to 10+ years of experience related to manufacturing and remanufacturing, particularly in oilfield services and equipment.
  • 5-8 years minimum experience in a manufacturing setting with hands on involvement in leading productivity improvement via setup reduction, tooling improvements, etc.
  • Demonstrated understanding and experience with hands-on Lean Manufacturing which has resulted in driving positive plant performance and financial improvements
  • Minimum of 5 years supervisory experience with multiple direct reports
  • Legally authorized to work in assigned location
  • Proficient in MS Office suite
PREFERRED
  • Strong understanding and experience in Managed Pressure Drilling
  • Fundamental Lean Training and background knowledge of lean principles
  • Experience working in a multi-product line manufacturing plant serving international customers
  • Strong background in machining and/or assembly processes for bills of material > 2 lines
  • Ability to interact in language relevant in local plant

  • Experience of fully burdened plant model
Travel Requirement:

This role may require domestic and potentially international travel of up to: 5-10%
