ERM is seeking a casual part-time employee to join our team in Chicago, IL. The primary need for the position is to support with airline water sampling projects, though there may be additional project opportunities.

ERM participates in the aircraft public water system sampling program for two airlines at Chicago’s major airports: Midway International airport and the O’Hare International airport. The sampling is performed to track compliance with the EPA’s Airline Drinking Water Rule (ADWR) developed for Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA) and the National Primary Drinking Water Regulations (NPDWRs). ERM manages the team of water samplers and schedules of aircraft that require testing are posted weekly. Samplers can sign-up for any testing event that they are qualified for and available for. Samplers will have access to certain nonpublic areas of each airport to perform these tests. For each airport anywhere from 2-5 planes are tested each week. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

In this role, you will:

• Attend training on airline water sampling (Training is provided by ERM). This training will include shadowing of other water samplers during sampling events


• Complete security badging at the Chicago airports


• Keep current with annual airline training and re-badging requirements


• Be available and sign-up for sampling events. Sampling events are weekly, and these are open to all samplers. trained and badged water samplers. Note: Sampling is conducted in the evenings once the plane has reached its Chicago destination for the day


• Follow all required quality control procedures and quality control documentation during sampling events


• Deliver the samples to the approved water testing laboratory


• Participate in quarterly meetings with the water sampling team


• Assist with managing the water testing supplies at the airports

You will be working under the mentorship of experienced water samplers and the designated airline ERM signatories (project managers).

REQUIREMENTS:

• No degree is necessary.


• Flexible schedule, with availability to work in the evenings, anywhere from 8PM to early morning. Note: Sampling events normally occurs on Monday, Tuesday and/or Wednesday evenings. Samplers can sign-up for one or two sample events a week. 


• Excellent communication, interpersonal, MS Office computer, and analytical skills


• Ability to multi-task, maintain flexibility and work independently with minimal supervision


• Access to an automobile for airport airline testing and delivery of the samples to the designated laboratory
