The Ammonia Refrigeration Technician is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and examining refrigeration systems, working specifically with ammonia refrigeration. This role requires performing preventative maintenance to refrigeration systems. They also respond to any breakdowns, meaning they may need to be on call to conduct emergency repairs.
Confer with operators and observes, tests, and evaluates operation of machinery and equipment to diagnose cause of malfunction.
Disassemble machinery and equipment to remove parts and make repairs.
Interface with state and federal government agencies as required.
Operate refrigeration and utility systems.
Perform daily chemical testing and logging all test results, making adjustments required to maintain refrigeration & utility system within established limits.
Required Skills:
Must have High School diploma at a minimum. Associates degree in an applicable technical discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience is highly desirable.
1-5 years of related industrial troubleshooting, maintenance and repair experience on highly technical, precision equipment, including 3 years' experience troubleshooting and repairing.
Ammonia Refrigeration Certification is a plus.
Ability to work various shifts.
Multi-craft/multi-skilled with expertise in electrical, electrical controls, mechanical, pneumatics, hydraulics and fabrication.
Working and practical knowledge of plant utility systems is highly desirable, (including boiler systems, ammonia refrigeration systems, compressed air systems).
Required Experience:
Must be able to bend, stretch, reach, grab, hold and carry.
Lift up to 40lbs.
Standing, walking, and climbing for 8 hours a day.
Must be able to handle varying temperatures per department.
