Job Summary | The University of Kentucky Center for Applied Energy Research [CAER] is assembling an outstanding research program in the field of flexible organic electronics, including sensing, bioelectronics, and organic semiconductor development. The Organic Electronics group seeks a research scientist at the Associate’s level, to team with researchers in device fabrication, synthesis and computational analysis teams, for the development of high-performance organic electronic devices. Applicants for this position must have extensive experience in organic electronic devices, and especially in transistors made from a broad class of organic electronic materials. Additionally, the candidate must be adept at fabricating electronic devices, maintaining and setting up laboratory equipment, organizing materials, chemical safety, guiding and supporting students, working across projects, as well as experience in data analysis, analysis methods and interpretation. In addition, the research scientist should have excellent organizational and writing skills, a strong health and safety ethic, good interpersonal skills and demonstrated record of teamwork, adaptability, innovation and initiative. Skills / Knowledge / Abilities | Characteristics of Job. This is the intermediate level – developing, maturing professional – requiring a master’s degree in chemistry or other physical sciences or equivalent experience related to area of specialization. Independently evaluates, selects and applies standardized analytical procedures and techniques; scopes tasks, develops approaches for moderately difficult tasks. Assignments have clear and specified objectives, and require the investigation of a limited number of variables. Incumbent relies on limited experience and exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices in making minor adaptations and modifications.Interacts in a collaborative manner with other team members to accomplish organizational goals; provides ideas to improve efficiency at group level. Continues to enhance capabilities for project planning, including assessment of cost, scope and schedule against plan. Performance at this level requires developmental experience in a professional position, or equivalent graduate level education. |
